Naples, September 13, 2020 – He would have chased her while she was on a scooter with her trans partner, trying to knock her down with kicks and punches. And when the vehicle lost its grip, struck by its fury, and ended up off the road, the sister crashed into a sprinkler hose that slit her throat. She died like this, between Caivano and Acerra, Maria Paola Gaglione, 22 years old, attacked by her brother Michele Antonio. To the charcoal burners, the 30-year-old said: “I wanted to teach her a lesson, not kill her. But she was infected.” That “infected” refers to the relationship that the sister had, apparently for a couple of years, with a trans boy named Ciro for some time. Even more explicit are Gaglione’s statements, reported by Naples morning: “I did shit. I didn’t want to kill anyone, but to teach my sister a lesson and especially the one who ‘infected’ my sister who has always been ‘normal'”. The man was initially responsible for personal injury, death as a result of another crime and private violence, but his situation worsened and the 30-year-old ended up in a cell for Pre-intentional murder and private violence aggravated by homophobia.
The young man, according to the researchers’ reconstruction, chased the scooter for several minutes before the tragic accident. The sister died instantly, the partner was saved because he ended up on the sidewalk without tripping over any obstacle, and is now hospitalized. Gaglione, unemployed, resident of the Parco Verde di Caivano (Naples), who after having rammed the girls and taking them out of the way, also threw himself on Ciro, hitting him, while his sister was already dead. Daniela Lourdes Falanga, president of Arcigay Napoli, came to visit the Acerra hospital where the young transgender was. “Ciro and her mother,” she said, “are devastated. First they suffered death threats, so it is something we feared might already happen. Now Ciro’s mother asks that María Paola’s brother pay ”.
