Presenting ourselves in the next administrative offices in coalition with other political and civic forces is not only a project in which I believe, it is the path that our members have shown us with one of the last votes. Unfortunately, we are out of time for these regions. we had to organize ourselves better and earlier. Perhaps in some cases it was a vague opportunity, but we stuck to the decisions of the territories and supported them to the end. Even for the future, however, the starting point will always be the voice of who is in the territory. Regional secretary Simona Bonafè maintains that voting for 5 stars in Tuscany means winning the League. Can it be said that she is partly right?

“To vote for the 5-Star Movement is to choose the 5-Star Movement. I have never believed in games, strategies, various suggestions to offer to the voters. I believe in the battles that are carried out from the beginning, with pride and a precise identity, at the as always the Movement.

“I don’t make predictions, but I trust the polls and the citizens who always have the clarity and the experience to evaluate the different proposals and choose. “No risk. Let’s think about working, let’s move on. We must give concrete answers to citizens who have suffered from Covid in recent months.”

Another thorn in the side of the majority: the referendum. What do you think of the substantial ambiguity shown by many members of the Democratic Party about the cut of MPs?

Thorn in the side? We are one step away from finally bringing home a reform that at the constitutional level will really change things, without upsetting them. Of a revolution in the way of understanding the institutional structures that the country has been waiting for for decades. And that’s what the Democratic Party has been waiting for. he knows, he actually voted for it in Parliament. Also because the reasons for Yes are widely shared and objective. If we simplify it, Parliament becomes more efficient, therefore more productive and even more central to institutional balance. Not to mention the credibility you will regain. policy in general vis-à-vis the citizens, who will also benefit from the 500 million euros saved per legislature and transformed into schools, roads, hospitals and services. It is a simple and focused reform that will finally modernize our country and adapt it to the most virtuous. It is a starting point to begin to change. “

After the feat of 2018, the 5 stars have lagged behind in the polls. Do you pay for having made a government party and no more fighting, or is there more?

Trust me, the last thing we look at is polls. If at the end of our political mandate we have helped change the country and improve the lives of citizens, that will be the only thing that matters. It is also a question of responsibility: declaring certain things or even making certain decisions just because trends and surveys suggest it, I think it is a lack of respect for citizens, as well as a deceptive gesture ”.

It was previously said that Conte could join the M5s. Today he was able to found his own personal movement. What do you advise him to do?

“I wish him well. And I assure you that Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte does not need advice. Now we must focus on the present and plan the restart well to overcome the economic crisis caused by the pandemic.”

Do you see a new political leader or a collegiate leader in the future of the Movement?

“The Movement needs strong and legitimate leadership. We need an organizational structure that is at the height of the role that is played today in the country and the demands that come from the territories.”

They say that you are the party of No. To give an example linked to this latest electoral campaign: even at the Florence airport you have a critical voice. But don’t you think it could be useful for the development of Tuscany?

“But if we vote Yes in the referendum! Do you see how much demagoguery? Does a political force that contributed to the construction of the new bridge in Genoa in record time seem like the party of No?”
