Investigation into League funds: Panamanian trustee appears in Switzerland

One of the objectives is to clarify the passage from Italy to Switzerland of part of the 800 thousand euros raised by the inflated sale of the property in Cormano, in the Milan area, for the Lombardy Film Commission. In particular, under the lens is the transition to a Panamanian trust company based in the Swiss country: this is one of the points that the investigations of the Prosecutor’s Office and the Financial Police of Milan want to define in the investigation on the funds of the League in relation to the “final destination” of part of the financing (it seems that almost 300 thousand euros) created with the supposed illegal real estate transaction.

Letters rogatory

The magistrates have started a letter of letters in Switzerland to follow the flow of money. The investigations led to the house arrest of three accountants close to the Lega two days ago: Alberto Di Rubba, administrative director of the Lega group in the Senate and former president of the LFC; Andrea Manzoni, auditor of the Lega in the Chamber with a position on the board of auditors of Sea; Michele Scillieri, professional with a tax consulting contract with the Lfc. Together with a fourth person, Fabio Giuseppe Barbarroja, all are under investigation for various reasons of embezzlement, alteration of freedom in the contractor selection procedure and fraudulent tax evasion.

A TROJAN ON THE MOBILE PHONE by G. Di Feo

The house arrest of the three accountants has stopped the investigation of the Milan Public Prosecutor. For the prosecutor Stefano Civardi and the deputy Eugenio Fusco, the operation would have drained public funds, then dispersed in several streams from which we are trying to understand in which companies and in which accounts they bounced and where they really ended up. In the investigation, which runs parallel to the Genoese investigation into the 49 million euros missing, in July Luca Sostegni, 62, was arrested and later detained, considered the front man of the three professionals also accused of extortion and about to flee to the Foreign. .

The final destiny”

In the interrogations carried out so far by Sostegni, the investigators have also raised questions about the final destination of part of the stock of the real estate sale. Sostegni, however, clarified that he only dealt with part of the transactions as a front man, those already identified in the investigations, and that the “mastermind” of the operations, including those unknown to him, was the accountant Scillieri. And in one of the minutes Sostegni also related a joke that Scillieri would have made when answering “they are used for the electoral campaign” to his question: “What are you doing with all this money?” Investigators tried to clarify the point, but Sostegni dismissed it as a joke. And at present, no traces of money going to the League have been found in the investigation. Sostegni, for his part, assumed all his “responsibilities” for the matter that revolves around the Cormano warehouse, but said he did not know the other cash flows in which the Prosecutor’s Office works. It is likely that in the coming weeks Sostegni, defended by lawyer Giuseppe Alessandro Pennisi, will again be heard by prosecutors.

Giorgetti’s “confidence”

A few days before the elections of September 20 and 21, the judicial investigation and the arrests shake the party and its leader Matteo Salvini. Who, in the middle of the electoral campaign, from Campania – where it was strongly contested – continues to repeat that he is “the calmest person in the world, I am not worried about the investigation and I am not worried about No in Giancarlo Giorgetti’s referendum.” In fact, Giorgetti, in fact, yesterday, the day after the news of the arrests, had come to light, distancing himself from the Salvini line. With a convinced “No” to the consultation that invites Italians to comment on the cut in parliamentarians (a sharp scissors cut from 900 to 600 between deputies and senators), the number two of the League, former undersecretary of the presidency of the Council and skillful internal strategist of the party, from Cividale del Friuli in the province of Udine commented today: “Knowing” the three accountants “I have faith in them and therefore I have faith in justice.”

The roman dinner

The vice president of the Senate, Roberto Calderoli, commented on the news of his participation in the dinner with Salvini and one of the detained accountants, Andrea Manzoni: “The dinner, as far as I am concerned, has never been. I have never been in May I went out to dinner with anyone. Dining out is nothing to worry about, but there hasn’t been any dinner. “
