Rome, September 12, 2020 – 48 hours after the first bell, the school prepares to reopen between doubts (many) and certainties (not too many). The CISL is already sounding the alarm: “One in four schools presents critical problems for the beginning of the school year and will not reopen regularly. And it is an underestimated percentage,” says Secretary Maddalena Gissi. This means that the multiple organizational and logistical difficulties will force school leaders on alternate days and frequencies to define partial schedules, and also to resort to distance education ”. Just as many chairs continue to be discovered. Meanwhile, the resumption of activity in Spezia and its province has been postponed from September 14 to 24. And also in Offida, in Ascolano, the bell will ring a week late. In Pomezia, however, a school principal has decided to completely remove the desks from the classrooms: there will only be chairs, as if the students were attending a conference. Rome, September 12, 2020 – 48 hours from the first bell, the school prepares to reopen between doubts (many) and certainties (not too many). The CISL is already sounding the alarm: “One in four schools presents critical problems for the beginning of the school year and will not reopen regularly. And it is an underestimated percentage,” says the secretary. Maddalena gissi. This means that the multiple organizational and logistical difficulties will force those responsible for the schools on alternate days and frequencies to define partial schedules, and also to resort to distance education ”. Just as many chairs continue to be discovered. Meanwhile, the resumption of activity in Spezia and its province has been postponed from September 14 to 24. And also in Offida, in Ascolano, the bell will ring a week late. In Pomezia, on the other hand, a school director has decided to completely eliminate the desks from the classrooms: only the chairs will remain, as if the students were participating in a conference.
problems also in Cesena, where, as in many other cities, not all the car seats have yet been delivered. Several students (in rotation within the class) will be forced to participate in the lessons only in chairs, taking notes to the best of their ability. In Milan yesterday, however, the assembly of the first six prefabricated wooden modules acquired by the City Council began to respond to the demand for spaces in eleven schools in the city, produced by the anti-Covid regulations and by the planned works. They will be ready on September 16 and each will house a classroom.
1 FLOW MANAGEMENT
Differentiated inputs and outputs. In some cases, shifts start
The inputs and outputs will be differentiated. Educational institutions have communicated to teachers, students, school personnel and anyone who must enter the institution the rules to be respected to avoid meetings with appropriate posters and an information campaign. Access to visitors and outsiders will be restricted. Many institutions have used the help desk developed by the Ministry of Education to better study how to manage student flows.
2 EAT SAFE
Disposable returns to the dining room. Risk of contamination, whoever serves at the tables will be trained
Even canteen service will never be the same again. Washable plates and cutlery are prohibited, while the adoption of single-dose containers, plastic or compostable plates and cups, non-reusable cutlery will be accelerated. Catering company personnel will be trained to avoid contamination and assist students in complying with security measures. In exceptional cases, food can be consumed in the classroom, ensuring adequate ventilation and sanitation of the rooms and the furniture used before and after the meal.
3 PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Contact sports prohibited. The park will be the preferred gym
Upon returning, students will discover that PE lessons have been interrupted. Although sports clubs are starting activities, institutions will avoid group games and sports that can cause students to come into too much contact with each other. The responsibility for any contagion, in fact, would lie with the school. Physical activity should always be done outdoors or in well ventilated areas. Each student must stay at least two meters away from their peers.
4 THE DEVICES WILL BE SUPPLIED BY THE INSTITUTES
The mask is removed when sitting on the counter. It is mandatory to wear it for any movement.
The Scientific Technical Committee has established that, in situations in which physical spacing cannot be guaranteed, the use of the mask will be necessary for students older than 6 years. The school will provide protective gear on a daily basis. To go to the bathroom, in the hallway, enter, leave school, go to the gym or the dining room, you should always wear a mask. Disabled students, if necessary, can be exempted from this obligation.
5 THE REST
Recreation sitting at your desk. You can take the snack from home
During recess, it will be necessary to stay inside the classroom and, without the mask, it will be prohibited to enter. To avoid contact with other schoolchildren, it is also not possible to go to the hallways. Each school will determine how students can use the restrooms. If the good weather allows it, you can spend the interval in the patio, always keeping your distance. But the snack should be consumed sitting at the counter and should not be exchanged with friends.
6 COMPACT GROUPS
Is the teacher absent? No mixed classes. Stop projects between different sections
Projects between various classes are prohibited. If a teacher is absent, as will likely be the first few days, since not many chairs have been assigned yet, classes cannot be divided and students cannot be classified into other sections – for a good follow-up activity, in case For some students to test positive for Coronavirus, it is critical that groups remain compact and that the number of unrecordable contact opportunities is reduced, to allow operators to quell any outbreaks.
7 MANDATORY REGISTRATION
Daily cleaning of the rooms. Students will be required to sanitize backpacks and purses every day.
Schools will be constantly cleaned according to anti Covid rules. The necessary funds have been sent to the schools for the purchase of sanitizing products, soaps and everything necessary to guarantee the protection of health. Students will need to sanitize their backpacks and purses every day. Based on the security protocol for the resumption of September, the daily cleaning and periodic sanitation of all rooms must be ensured, drawing up a well-defined schedule, which will be documented through a regularly updated record.
8 CHANGE THE MUSIC
Personal tissues and wipes. The case is not exchanged
Disposable tissues for drying hands and toilet paper have been withdrawn in several institutions. Parents were asked to provide their children with a minimal kit (including wipes and other supplies) so they can clean themselves when using the restrooms. As for the cases, it is absolutely forbidden to lend pencils, pens and markers. In the case of a Covid positive pupil, these objects could in fact become a vehicle for infection.
