Regarding the reopening of schools on September 14, the government has decided to keep the bar straight despite the protagonists of the world of education, starting with the rectors, having highlighted in the last hours that some substantial knots remain, from the single-seater desks that guarantee distancing. to the masks, to the classrooms that are not always enough, to the chairs still uncovered.
Also in this case, as has happened on more than one occasion at the end of the confinement, when deciding how and at what time to return to “normality”, the Regions move in no particular order. Not only about the date of return to class – currently there are seven who have decided to postpone the start while there are 12, plus the province of Trento, those in which the bell will ring again – but also about the solutions to be adopted in protecting the safety of individual students and fellow students.
Here, then, is that Piedmont with an ordinance has provided for a double obligation: that parents mark in the diary, or on special forms, the temperature of their children who go to school. And that educational institutions verify that this has been done. “We could challenge the decree of the Piedmont Region” that obliges schools to control the temperature of students, observed Education Minister Lucía Azzolina. “The ministry said that temperatures should be taken at home because it is not right for infected students to use the means of transport to get to school,” the minister explained, “and 4 days after opening it is not possible to change the rules of the game. It is a matter of respect for families and school leaders. We do not exclude the possibility of opening a dispute with the Piedmont Region and challenging the decree of President Cirio.
Then there are those who, like Tuscany, with an ordinance from the end of August, decided to hire active doctors, but also postgraduates and retirees enrolled with free professional contracts for the duration of the entire school year. The ASL of Tuscany will have to find – and draw up a list before September 30 – doctors to dedicate to the health activities foreseen by the protocols of the Ministry of Education with a view to opening the school year in time for Covid.
Temperature Verification Obligation for Piedmont Schools
The ordinance of the Piedmont Region could lead the way in identifying a solution that guarantees the school control of temperature by the families, avoiding or at least reducing the possibility that an infected person can go to school and transmit Covid to the whole world. class, resulting in a mass quarantine. The document “recommends” that institutions measure their fever before admission; when this is not possible, the school staff must collect the certification completed in the morning by the families, to demonstrate that the child is well. Because “a child at school with a fever – explained Governor Alberto Cirio – is a huge risk, for him, for the other children and for all the staff. And we cannot allow this.
