New rules compared to the past, more rigid and severe, as foreseen by the guidelines, came from Rome with the aim of reducing the spread of Covid 19 in classrooms and hallways. In recent days, the Beni Montresor primaries representatives took place, which was followed by a long message sent to the parents’ WhatsApp chat, to inform about the new regulations. And one, in particular, has caused fears in several mothers.
ALL FROM ONE JUDGMENT. “Children who are sick at school are isolated and then called home. The parent or guardian should bring the child immediately. And so far nothing new. Or at least nothing different from what is expected in all schools. It was the subsequent clarification that puzzled the parents: «The school has the right to call 118 if the child is not picked up in a short time».
“But how? If at that moment the mobile does not answer me, if I do not hear the ringtone, if for some reason I do not answer, will I find the child in an ambulance?” Asks the mother of a Beni Montresor student, That he stays with other parents. Seek a dialogue with the school to solve the problem. Or at least be clear. “Besides,” he adds, “it is not even specified what is meant by ‘short time’. How do we do it? We cannot live every day in fear of what will happen to our child if he has a flu symptom. I have two other children who attend different schools, but neither has said they will take such action if a parent does not show up to pick up the child. “

Bragantini, the director, is in charge of clarifying and calming the spirits: “No one threatened to call 118”, he begins, also referring to the circular published in recent days also on the Institute’s web portal, where we actually read that “if a student presents one or more symptoms compatible with Covid-19 infection during the course of school activities, it will be taken over by a school operator, who will isolate the student in a specifically identified space within the plexus (…) Parents they will take him out of school with great care. ”Nothing more.
“During the meetings, I stressed the importance of coming to pick up the child, in the event that he presents these symptoms, as soon as possible, also indicating the arrival times,” he explains. Obviously, if the parent is an hour away, the school will take that into account. “The important thing is to have reliable information,” continues Bragantini, “because if parents do not show up to school we are forced to call the health company to obtain detailed information on how to get around.
