A mosaic of state and equal Turin institutions, a mosaic of organizational options in compliance with the national guidelines for the safety of students when returning to the classroom: La Stampa has chosen to recount the complexity of the school’s reopening in the year of the pandemic, Conducting a series of interviews with school leaders.
Without thinking of being able to exhaust the multiple facets and possible variations of the appointment of Monday, September 14, the comprehensive schools Ugo Foscolo, the Crocetta, Pertini, Lingotto, Cairoli, Mirafiori schools; the classical high school Massimo D’Azeglio, the scientists Cattaneo and Galileo Ferraris, the peer Salesian institutes Madre Mazzarello and Valsalice, and San Giuseppe dei Fratelli delle Scuole Cristiane a little can be said on behalf of the entire large and diversified school community that in these days he began to meet again after more than six months of absence.
There are many small and big problems that the directors underline in the ten videos, different are the realities in which they are engaged. For all, the reorganization for the beginning of the 2020/2021 academic year started from the meticulous evaluation of the spaces to calculate their capacity based on the spacing set, at the national level, in one meter between the mouths of the students seated at the desks. Single seat counters, of course, permanently affixed with tapes or “stamps” glued to the floor.
WATCH THE VIDEOS OF ALL INSTITUTES – So the schools of Turin are preparing
Schools had to diversify entrances as much as possible, opening doors that were not used in the past, opening emergency exits for access as well; They had to identify the places in which to accompany the children and young people who had to show discomfort in the classroom, name and train “Covid references” in each complex.
In many cases, they had to review the length of class hours, plan staggered entrances to avoid crowds, come up with solutions for breaks in the classroom, outdoors or in the hallway. Again: In secondary schools, in the presence of classrooms that are too small to guarantee space, we were forced to provide video cameras and microphones to allow groups of students (in rotation) to have remote lessons in sync.
All the school communities have put their energy, will and enthusiasm. The goal is to go back to school and stay there all year.
