Valentino Rossi has no plans to retire, but will not make the official announcement of his move to Team Petronas during these two racing weekends at Misano.. Not because he’s reconsidering, but because some details (read: how many men on his team can he take with him) still need to be worked out.
“It is not true that I will retire – he clarified at the press conference – The situation is exactly the same as two or three weeks ago, Next year I will compete with Petronas at 99%, even if the firm is not there yet. We are taking the time because I am not in a rush and we have to work out the final details. Maybe we can make the announcement in Barcelona“.
Then the news turned out to be a hoax.
“I think my retirement is great news, certainly on the Internet many fans have clicked to read it, I think that’s why it was written. But I have said many times that I will continue, I do not know if whoever wrote it really wants it to stopa ”, he smiled.
He then went on to talk about Jorge Lorenzo, on the Yamaha test card but disappeared for months. Why?
“I would also like to ask the same question to Yamaha – said the Doctor – I was very happy when I learned that Jorge would be our test driver, because he was one of the best M1 drivers in history. It could help us a lot Just look at what Pedrosa has managed to do with KTM in one year. Sometimes things happen at Yamaha that are difficult to explain, they should believe more in their plans. If Lorenzo has disappeared, Dovizioso would be in the square.

I hope things improve on other circuits, tomorrow we will understand if we can fight for the podium at Misano. I think this championship still holds many surprises in store for us and will remain open until the last race“.
This weekend Italy will be the center of motorsports, and Formula 1 will make a stop at Mugello.
“I am very jealous because we are not going this year – the Doctor commented – For me it is one of the best tracks in the world, both on a motorcycle and by car. There I tested the Ferrari twice, even in the wet. The track may be a bit narrow for F1, but I’m sure the drivers will have a lot of fun.“.
