According to his uncle Jaime BermudezOrdóñez had left home last night, after drinking alcohol with a friend, to buy more drinks. The police “without saying a word” attacked him and, as can be seen in the video, they took him to a police station where he would receive further beatings. At one point, the man was taken to a neighborhood clinic where he died at dawn, apparently from the shocks and electric shocks he received.
In statements to Radio Caracol, Bermúdez reiterated his accusations alleging that “he did not attack the police, it was the agents who attacked him,” noting that “this story will end in impunity like everything else” because “we live in a climate of terrible violence ”and“ not criminals but police kill us. ”The existence of the video, however, has shocked the entire country for which the prosecutor has announced that he“ immediately took the case in hand ”to“ clarify what happened ”.
After the images were released, violent riots broke out in Bogotá in protest against police brutality.
