But it will not be possible to enter the classroom even if the ASL decides to apply quarantine after one or more cases of coronavirus infection. If the debate (and friction) between parents and educators has already begun on the notion of “symptoms”, many institutions are welcoming children and parents by signing forms that recall the “shared responsibility” school-family to better manage this start of the New Year.

Fever above 37.5 degrees
The indications are there, provided and updated at the end of August by the Higher Institute of Health. In case of fever higher than 37.5 degrees and symptoms attributable to Covid-19, the student cannot leave the house and the pediatrician or family doctor must be notified immediately. If fever or symptoms occur at school, the student must be isolated, parents must be notified immediately, who in turn contact the doctor. If the test is positive, the word goes to the ASL prevention department that will evaluate the decisions to be made: quarantine can be prescribed to all students in the same class and to exposed teachers and school operators who are configured as “close contacts” . .

The quarantine “
In compulsory quarantine it is not possible to return to school. The forty – 14 days from the date of the last contact – is also triggered for the partners, the sisters and brothers of the child and for their parents (for the latter, the government is thinking about a smart job or a new extraordinary license for minors of 14 years). ).

The “close contacts” node
The last word is from the health authorities, having listened to the manager of Covid-19, mandatory in each institution. Strict contracts of the student in quarantine (family or classmates), or contracts of strict contracts, based on health indications, do not require quarantine, unless the ASL provides otherwise (if, for example, there are other positive aspects). The closure of a school or part of it should be evaluated based on the number of confirmed cases and any group and the level of circulation of the virus within the community. In quarantine, distance learning is activated.

Back to school
A single confirmed case in a school, at least according to current indications, should not lead to its closure, especially if transmission in the community is not high. The positive student only returns to school when there is clinical recovery, that is, the total absence of symptoms. Confirmation of a successful cure requires that two swabs be performed 24 hours apart. If both swabs are negative, it can be said that the person is cured; otherwise, the isolation will continue.
