A truck driver, a Croatian citizen, died this morning (7 September) in an accident that occurred around 8.00 on the A4 motorway, on the section between San Giorgio di Nogaro and Latisana in the direction of Venice, where there were strong slowdowns due to from an accident that happened around 3 am.

The heavy vehicle collided with the one in front of it and fortunately had stopped about twenty meters from the last stopped vehicle. The impact threw him forward about ten meters and he landed against the truck in front of him.
The driver died instantly. In the violent impact, the truck lost its load and spilled onto the highway.

The slowdowns were formed due to the accident caused during the night by a car that was arriving near the Latisana toll and had made a U-turn taking the wrong exit ramp used by those arriving from Trieste. The impact with a heavy vehicle coming from the right direction was inevitable. The vehicle, in an attempt to avoid it, rolled over and also involved another vehicle. Three minor injuries were taken to the Udine hospital, while one person was transported by helicopter to Cattinara and is in serious condition.

The road was closed for several hours to allow the recovery of the victim, the removal of vehicles and the finished material on the road. Only one lane reopened at 1pm.
Severe circulation problems

During the afternoon, in a manner compatible with the reabsorption of vehicle traffic, the resurfacing works of the damaged section of the highway will be carried out.
