Campania today approves the postponement of the opening of the school year to September 24, accepting the requests of the Anci, the association of municipalities and the recently gathered school unions.
After a careful assessment of the situation, the persistence of critical issues that make it necessary to take another 10 days to achieve elements of greater tranquility.
In the area of health, it was decided to make screening mandatory for all school personnel. An extraordinary plan was approved to support general practitioners and swab results within 24 hours.
As a Region, it was decided to finance the purchase of thermo-scanners to measure the temperature of students in schools, considering measurement at home implausible.
To date, there are no reliable data on the teaching staff available, on the supply of individual desks, on the support teachers, on the places available for students.
It is also necessary to sign agreements on the part of the Municipalities with transport companies, including private ones, to guarantee the full availability of the necessary means for school transport.
These are some of the critical issues that are still present and that make it necessary to postpone the opening.
We will work in the coming days, with a great sense of responsibility, to have the minimum security conditions for the performance of school activities.
