The last and the semi-final will be the first. A ladle with a philosophy that we would define as evangelical turns the Monza soup around and changes the history of the 2020 Italian GP with a safety car (registered for Kevin Magnussen’s stop in the dangerous zone) that overturns the ranking acquired in that moment and fires an unimaginable domino, in which Mercedes returns the leader Hamilton to the still closed pit lane regime and, by making him collect a penalty, beats his driver as no rival can. Even the best, therefore, take crazy subjects. Then there is a second GP, after Charles Leclerc’s crash came off the grid, but the now world champion, condemned to a relentless comeback from last to seventh place. The victory goes to Pierre Gasly with the Alpha Tauri from Faenza – a replica of Sebastian Vettel’s triumph in 2008, when the name of the team, before Minardi, was Toro Rosso – against that Carlos Sainz that we hope will still want to come in a forced Ferrari . to another painful test.
Pierre Gasly: 10
Victory number 80 for France in F1. It hasn’t come since 1996: the last one, in a very different automotive era, was obtained by Olivier Panis in Monte Carlo with the Ligier. The black series is interrupted by a twenty-four-year-old, already world champion of the then GP2, who loves our country and who has acquired Milan: we do not want to take what does not belong to us, but Pierre’s piece of Italy also it is encouraging. In truth, the temptation to lower his vote a bit because his winning move was painting before the safety car entered: perhaps, more than a calculation or a deliberate forecast, it was a stroke of luck. But after Gasly he has more than made up for the favor of fate, running away after the second outing and holding out even when the dog Sainz wanted to jump on him. First personal success and double mockery of Red Bull who had downloaded it (except to prepare to take it back) and who remedied a solemn fool as a team in the presence of the satellite team. By the way: Alpha Tauri, grade 110 and praise.
Carlos Sainz: 9.5
He missed a lap to make sure his McLaren, which benefited from cooler tires in the final, passed on to Gasly’s AT. Carlos had also been excellent in the first of the two GPs: he was Hamilton’s first pursuer in the race. He also deserved the victory, but perhaps against Pierre the difference lies in the astral conjunction of the tire change chosen by the Frenchman. During the lap after the race, he was heard sobbing and tears appeared under the visor. Calm down: not in the Ferrari yet.
Lewis Hamilton: 8
We are not sure that it is free of corrections in the error that decided the turnaround of a career that otherwise would have been successful. Waiting to understand if it has to do with that or not, we salute again the talent of Mr. Hamilton, one who does not care about everyone and, now, also about blocked mappings.
Kimi Raikkonen: 7.5
After reversing the safety car, he was fourth and at the restart from a standstill he was in the second row: this was the last and the semifinal in front. Old Kimi, however, moved and fought for points until, inexorably, he was sent back to the place that now belongs to Alfa Romeo.
Lando Norris: 7.5
In GP1 he sailed in third place, in the end he was a wooden medal. She did not find the piece to close the mosaic, for Lando a good pilot who attacks and breaks loose, who aims at the opponent and does not give up.
Ride Lance: 6.5
The minor podium does not absolve him of the mess he combined in the resumption. He started again from the front row, with Hamilton at his side who would have to stop to serve the penalty: he was therefore a potential leader. But after getting dragged through the green light, Stroll managed to go long at the chicane after the Big Turn. Then he redeemed himself with a nice overtaking at the Ascari Bend, but the Lance di Monza reminds the cow that after having produced milk he kicks the bucket.
The second guide: 5
Let’s talk about Danyl Kvyat and Esteban Ocon. The former, once again stripped by Gasly, will have to put aside the ambitions of aspiring to return to Red Bull. The second, on the other hand, has yet to prove that he is the talent for which he is praised: without doing anything exceptional, Ricciardo (6) again took the lead.
Renault: 5
On the track was Renault president and CEO Luca De Meo, who announced the arrival of the brand. Alpine for next season’s F1 team: a name that recalls the great triumphs in rallying. Maybe it helps, Regie lives up and down today. Lower than high, in Monza.
Sebastian Vettel: 5
It is not your fault that the car is the one that does, if the brakes roast and if your journey does not last long. But when evaluating the entire weekend, no flashes are remembered. It seems that he dreamed of victory in 2008 and that the neighbors heard him shout in the middle of the night: Geben Sie mir meinen Toro Rosso zurck! (Give me back my Toro Rosso!).
Charles Leclerc: 4
He received a memorable blow against the Parabolic Curve guards. He had also been a beneficiary of the games of destiny and after the SC he was relaunched as sixth. Charles immediately acted in a couple of songs born of his talent, guts and exuberance, but the mistake that made him go through a blue scare son of an exaggeration. If you go on a lap, you can’t think of winning the Arc de Triomphe – he sped up too soon, but he doesn’t have a Mercedes.

Valtteri Bottas: 3
He had the gall, after another dizzying start, to say there was a problem. Yes, the problem was, again, him. In moments Hamilton picks it up after he started last: and this would be his first rival for the World Championship?
Red bull: 2
A fool – with the suspicion that he is the true victim of the mapping block – exacerbated by the triumph of Alpha Tauri. In the vortex he dragged Verstappen (5) and an Albon (4) who is already packing his bags.
Mercedes: 2
Every now and then he runs into a bad day: Monza was one of them. The mistake that sentenced Hamilton from a punitive briefing of at least half a day. Even the thesis that the indications about the state of the pit lane were not clear cannot be sustained: on the wall they know everything and see everything.
Claire Williams: 0
After Monza 2020 he leaves the position of deputy director of the team that he had assumed when the health of his father Frank had become precarious. You won’t regret it: He sent one of the three most successful teams in history to last place.
Ferrari sub zero
It lacks speed, it has painful aerodynamics and now it comes loose (cf. Vettel brakes). The red team has to call the Red Cross: the GP 1000 of its glorious history is on its way, you cannot go to the party in sloppy clothes.
