The electoral campaign of the Regionals in Puglia also comes to life for the epidemiologist Pier Luigi Lopalco, candidate in the lists of support for Michele Emiliano by the center-left, with an attack on political opponents, but also on some colleagues who have been speaking of the Coronavirus as “clinically dead”, for example Alberto Zangrillo. Lopalco spoke at a rally in Corato, in the province of Bari, vindicating the work carried out in recent months at the head of the working group for the health emergency, with the “defense walls” installed in the region from the reconstruction of some intensive care units.
Meanwhile, however, the cases of Apulia have grown again, cases that “before we did not see,” explained Lopalco, “asymptomatic young people with few symptoms, who at that time were not even sought after. A wick that later caused the explosion of the first wave and that today we will extinguish isolating the shoots.
The “lies of the north”
But the increase in infections between August and September according to Lopalco does not depend only on the change in strategy in the monitoring of infections. For the epidemiologist there is also a political responsibility: “If we have this resumption of Covid-19 – reports Corriere della Sera – it is also the effect of the reckless propaganda of some political forces in the North who had to say that the virus does not exist and therefore we could go back to the clinics in the North because they are safe ».
The attack did not spare even the comrades who attend television programs, although he never mentioned them: “A lie,” Lopalco added, “that they tried to sell us on television saying that the virus was clinically dead or had weakened: they needed to reactivate a market which is very important, the health market ”.
