After more than two months, the death of a patient with Covid-19 occurs in Umbria. He is a 70-year-old man of Albanian origin who was hospitalized in intensive care at the Santa Maria della Misericordia hospital in Perugia. The last death associated with the Coronavirus dates, in fact, on June 26. Therefore, the death toll from the pandemic in our region amounts to 81.
Official confirmation The hospital company of Perugia confirms that “at dawn on Friday, September 4, a 70-year-old citizen of Albanian origin, who had lived in Perugia for years, died in the Intensive Care Unit due to the consequences of Covid-19. The man, who returned from a trip to Albania, was hospitalized on August 21 in the complex structure of Infectious Diseases and transferred to intensive care after his conditions worsened even in the presence of other pathologies. The extraordinary commissioner Marcello Giannico informed Mayor Romizi and expressed his condolences to the relatives and also on behalf of the health personnel.
35 new cases The daily bulletin reports that 35 new infections have been recorded after 2,176 swabs tested in the past 24 hours. Ten healed, bringing the total to 1,462. The number of hospitalized patients is also growing, going to 14, of which 3 are in intensive care (but the 70-year-old deceased has not yet been removed).

The subjects, young and asymptomatic, have recently returned from a non-EU country and are in home isolation. There are currently nine people positive for the coronavirus in the municipality of Umbertide, including two residents outside the municipal area of our competence. All are subject to home isolation.
