(ANSA) – ROME, SEPTEMBER 02 – A man equipped with a jet pack (‘jet pack’) ‘touched’ at high speed last Sunday at least two planes above the skies of Los Angeles, about 3,000 feet (915 meters ) altitude: the man, who has not yet been identified, passed within 300 meters of the planes. The FBI, Sky News reports, has opened an investigation.
The incident was reported to the control tower of Los Angeles International Airport by pilots of the airlines JetBlue and American Airlines, and numerous US media have published recordings of the conversations.
“Tower – says the American flight pilot – (here) American 1997. We just passed a guy with a jet backpack”. The flight controller asks which side of the plane the flying man has passed and the pilot specifies: “On the left side, maybe around 300 yards (275 meters, ed), above our altitude.”
Seconds later, the JetBlue flight pilot also takes the microphone and communicates with the control tower: “We just saw the guy with a jet pack.” At this point, the flight controller urged the pilot of the JetBlue plane to “be careful,” adding: “A person with a jet pack reported 300 yards south of the final Los Angeles (leg), about 3,000 feet. “. And an unidentified voice says, “Only in Los Angeles.”
The US federal civil aviation agency (FAA) confirmed the sightings and the FBI office in Los Angeles announced that it had launched an investigation. (HANDLE).
