The FBI has opened an investigation. The incidents were reported to the Los Angeles airport control tower
Many US media have published recordings of the conversations. “Tower – says the pilot of the American flight – we just passed a guy with a jet backpack.” The flight controller asks which side of the plane the flier has passed and the pilot specifies: “On the left side, maybe 275 meters, approximately at our altitude.”
Seconds later, the JetBlue flight pilot also takes the microphone and communicates with the control tower: “We just saw the guy with a jet pack.” At this point, the flight controller urges the pilot of the JetBlue plane to “be careful. A person with a jet pack reported 300 yards south of the final Los Angeles (leg), about 3,000 feet.” And an unidentified voice says, “Only in Los Angeles.” The American Federal Civil Aviation Agency (FAA) has confirmed the sightings
