It is certainly not a good time for Education Minister Lucía Azzolina. For months. Now another mess has arrived, which this time refers to the provincial ranking of substitutes. The unions are already working to do the battle and send a warning to the Ministry of Education. That the situation was not the best had already been seen at the end of July.

Rino Di Meglio, national coordinator of the Teachers Guild, explained the situation perfectly: “It should have been a Copernican revolution aimed at greatly improving the alternate designation mechanism and instead turned out to be an ugly mess that will spell countless appeals.” A real chaos caused by innumerable errors in the system in the online entry of questions in the provincial rankings for substitutes. Among the main anomalies reported by precarious teachers, after the publication of the first rankings, are invented titles, exaggerated qualification scores and years of service with non-existent support. The computer system went haywire. In the ranking there are people who first disappeared and then magically reappeared. The formal notice for Minister Azzolina is being drafted.
One disaster after another
Many problems arose with the new procedure in place this year. Starting with the assignment of the validation of the applications to the polo schools, delegated precisely to the evaluation of the applications of each candidate. A big problem for the secretariats since the number of applications is considerable and they also have to think about the standard procedure necessary for the start of the new school year. Di Meglio stressed that the amount of work is impossible to handle, especially given the tight deadlines imposed by the ministry. Thousands of applications have been received that now is the time to review. The union coordinator further noted that “In order not to run the risk of exceeding the deadlines, the Ministry of Education did not foresee the publication of the provisional rankings, thus denying the possibility of rectifying and integrating the questions. A step that would have been essential this year for the implementation of the new computer system. The result is that the submitted applications contain numerous errors, many of which were committed due to the wrong approach originally assigned by the Ministry to the issues, which will lead to a proliferation of controversies ”.
In short, a good mess. Another signed by the government. Not forgetting the problem of fragile workers who further complicate the turbulent start of the school year. Also because the Ministries of Labor and Health have not yet expressed themselves on the matter. And meanwhile the schools have reopened between courses for the recovery of learning and teacher colleges “ Di Meglio stressed. Minister Azzolina runs the risk of receiving complaints and formal notification letters from all sides. Parents of disabled students who are already preparing the complaint for the government are also up in arms. There are a few days left until the start of the new school year and nothing is yet known about the start of school for her children.
