“I saw my son Diego for the last time on Saturday, at 8 pm. He had to go to a birthday party and first meet his girlfriend.” He still has the last moments in which he saw his son, Gianni Tanda, a 51-year-old gardener from Decimoputzu, well imprinted in his memory, and it could not be otherwise. His twenty-one-year-old Diego died a few hours later, in the terrible accident in the roundabout of the SS 130 between Decimomannu and San Sperate. The young man practically died instantly inside the Citroen C1 that collided with a BMW. “I hope that at least his friend Davide is saved, I hope my son helps him from up there,” says the 51-year-old, his voice broken with emotion. A late-summer night drama that was supposed to be a party: Diego Tanda was returning from a friend’s birthday party when the drama happened. Papa Gianni does not seek guilty: “It may be everyone’s fault, but the important thing is that what happened to my son does not happen again. I have three other children and many friends, obviously I also think of other people ”. Already. And it is a thought, that of the 51-year-old man, supported by a very deep knowledge of that stretch of road.
“I have known her since I started driving, I was a driver for many years. We need to ensure it, intervene from both sides ”. And then, inevitably, the thought returns to his Diego: “He had been working since he was sixteen years old, his last occupation was in the fruit and vegetable market. He had his driver’s license and his car, he was a great worker, ”he adds, before preparing, especially mentally, to greet him for the last time. In the afternoon, at 5:00 p.m., in the church of Nuestra Señora de Gracia.
