The 3-year-old girl was attending the Hsinchu kite festival, 30 km from Taipei, when she was hooked by a rope. Thrown into the air, then fell to the ground but without sustaining significant injuries.
An accident as spectacular as it was impressive occurred on August 30 in the city of Hsinchu, in Taiwan. A 3-year-old girl, according to the New York Times, was with her family at the city’s international kite festival, when she was hooked by a rope and carried in the air for a few seconds, before falling to the ground but without serious consequences.
Just a few scratches on the face and neck.
Local media explained that the little girl, transported to the hospital, had only some scratches on her face and neck, perhaps thanks to the disposition of a group of spectators who grabbed her as she fell to the ground. In the videos published on Storyful, Facebook, and in various Taiwanese newspapers, the small flight of the kite can be clearly seen, amid the shouts of the public watching the scene.
The festival has been suspended
Following the incident, local authorities suspended the festival. The mayor of Hsinchu city still writes the NOW, then apologized with a post on Facebook. “We apologize to the public and everyone involved, and we will work to ensure that such an incident never happens again,” the mayor wrote.
