(ANSA) – ROME, AUGUST 31 – British counterterrorism police announced that last night they had arrested an Italian and a Kuwaiti citizen at London Stansted Airport.
According to the Guardian, the Italian is 48 and the Kuwaiti 34: both were on a Ryanair airline flight from Vienna. The flight, the BBC writes, was intercepted by Royal Air Force (RAF) Typhoon fighter jets following a report of a security threat on board.
An investigation is ongoing. Police said the two were arrested shortly after 7 p.m. local time (8 p.m. in Italy) under Article 7 of the Terrorism Law, which allows law enforcement agencies to detain, search, question and arrest suspicious people who They pass through the ports and airports of the country.
