(ANSA) – SAN FRANCISCO, AUGUST 30 – A person died last night in Portland after clashes between Black Lives Matter protesters and supporters of United States President Donald Trump. The police released it. Oregon City has been an epicenter of protests since George Floyd was killed by police in Minnesota in late May. The shooting took place around 8:45 p.m. downtown, police said. A murder investigation is underway.
Portland police tweeted that a political demonstration was “sweeping downtown Portland” and that “there have been some cases of violence between protesters and counter-protesters. Officers intervened and in some cases made arrests.” OregonLive reported “clashes” and “moments of tension” between the groups, although police did not say whether the shooting was related to the protests.
