One of the difficulties of the investigation is precisely the great flow of water, which prevents the teams from entering the stream: the hope, they explain, is that the man got entangled in a branch on the way to the lake. The friend, who called for help, was rescued by a rescue helicopter in shock.

Bad weather in the north

Heavy traffic on the A14 between Forlì and Bologna, on the Autosole near Florence and at various points in Emilia, on the autobrennero, on the Rome barrier of the A27, on the A10 between Ventimiglia and Genoa and also in Puglia. It is not only the storms that threaten the territories and the population in these hours. In central and southern Italy, the Corps’ fire teams and air fleet are dedicated to fighting forest fires in the Marches, Tuscany and Sicily.

And in Sardinia, as part of an operation by the Forestry Corps to identify those responsible for some fires on the island, thirteen people were investigated and some of them were arrested: they are allegedly employed in the fire fighting operations themselves. The greatest damage relates mainly to bad weather and, in particular, to the drama of the missing person in the Varese area. To alarm the 38-year-old man, it was a friend who was with him in the area near Lake Delio, and who saw him dragged into the waters of the torrent in full flood. The investigation continued as long as weather conditions allowed. Then, thanks to the torrential rain, they had to stop and will resume tomorrow.

Time allows it. Other roads were closed due to landslides. It happened on the Regina state highway, the one that borders Lake Como, closed in the morning between Domaso and Gravedona (an area where a provincial highway was also closed due to the collapse of a wall). Here about twenty inhabitants and tourists were forced to abandon their homes, while in the Alessandria area there was a landslide on the A7, the highway that connects Milan with Genoa. In the Veronese area – hit by the typhoon last Sunday – there was a storm at night that caused flooding and uprooted plants, while in the afternoon it was the turn of a tornado and a very strong hail, with grains that, in the neighboring province of Cremona and Mantua, were the size of eggs. Huge damage, but still to be quantified, in several buildings and especially in crops, including the grape, since the affected area of ​​Veronese is where Soave is produced. Even greater damage to a tornado in the Vicenza area where he announced tomorrow that the president of Veneto Luca Zaia will go “to make a first summary count”, while the province of Belluno, including Cortina d’Ampezzo, was also hit by Frandinavo and strong wind with relative damage and landslides.

Stream flooding and landslides have occurred in the Alessandria area on several occasions, with rainfall of up to 224 mm of rain in a few hours, an amount considered enormous if it falls in three days. In Asti, heavy rains caused the gates to the Gaia waste treatment center to give way where the water reached the electrical systems, causing the processing lines to block. In Casale Monferrato, a tree collapsed on the roof of an Arci club, fortunately without causing injuries, while in Genoa Voltri a seventeen-year-old was injured by the wave that broke off the roof of a supermarket due to the whirlwind that hit the city. In the province, in Moneglia, the wind has always uncovered the roof of the La Romantica hotel and the Verde stream has overflowed.

Hail, rain and landslides also occurred in Valtellina, while in the city of Milan the trees collapsed and water infiltrations caused the blocking of the escalators of some metro stations.
