LIVORNO. Large fire in the Ghiomelli garden, in via Firenze, which was closed, with a column of black smoke visible from all over the city. The air is unbreathable and the wind is strong. According to an initial reconstruction, the fire would be near the warehouses and the flames initially threatened a gas station.
Firefighters from the Livorno command are on the scene and reinforcements are arriving with tanker trucks from the Pisa, Massa, Lucca and Prato commandos. Carabinieri, police, municipal and ambulances also participated. And the mayor Luca Salvetti also arrived. At the moment they are not injured and the causes of the fire are still under investigation.
THE MAYOR: “DESTROY HISTORICAL ACTIVITY”
According to Salvetti himself, the fire in the gardening material store would have occurred around 1:45 pm, when the structure was closed for the lunch break. “We are sorry because a historical activity in the city has been destroyed – says Salvetti – We are working on assets and structures with the help we can give to these entrepreneurs, but the important thing is that we have not been injured.”

And the Department of the Environment of the Livorno Municipality advises “the inhabitants of the districts of Korea, Shanghai and Fiorentina to keep their windows closed for 6-8 hours, so as not to be hit by smoke and bad smells. After this period, the closure of the fire, citizens are invited to ventilate the houses as much as possible. ”
