Family tragedy in the past in Messina, where a twenty year old boy killed his father at home while the man slept in his bed. The drama during the night between Friday, August 28 and Saturday, August 29, shortly after 4 o’clock, at a house in Spadafora. The victim, Pierluigi Mollica, 59, was caught in her sleep by her son. Upon awakening with a start, the man allegedly tried to defend herself by starting a fight but without success and died from the serious injuries caused by the numerous blows inflicted by her son Gabriele. According to an initial reconstruction by the carabinieri, the aggression would be attributable to family disagreements. Father and son argued, then the young man waited for the 59-year-old man to go to bed to attack him.
At the time of the murder the victim’s partner and the youngest son were also in the house of the seventeen-year-old man who couldn’t help but ask for help. When ambulance 118 arrived at the scene, however, rescuers couldn’t help but determine the 59-year-old man’s death. Also at the scene of the crime were the carabinieri who found the twenty-something with his clothes still stained with blood and in a state of confusion. The young man, who lived in the same house, was immediately taken into custody by the police and taken to hospital for the injuries he suffered in the fight with his father. Now he has to answer for the crime of murder. The investigations are coordinated by the Messina prosecutor, Maurizio De Lucia.
