The day new coronavirus infections in Italy hit 1,462, many of which are attributable to holiday returns, the governor of Puglia Michele Emiliano decide to go hard. And announces mandatory buffers for those returning to the Region from Sardinia. “From 23 August until today there are 18 cases of results from Puglia positive in Covid return from holidays in Sardinia, equivalent to 9% of the total positives ”, reads the statement released in the last hours. For this reason, the authorities “have instructed the ASL Prevention departments to contact all those who arrive or return to Puglia from Sardinia to submit them to a swab. The provision is addressed to all those who have arrived from Sardinia from August 15“.
The group of people to whom the screening is directed has 923 citizens, that is, those who are autosegnalati on the regional site at the end of the holidays. “If there are citizens who have forgotten to fill in the online self-report form required for all those arriving from outside the region – continues the message sent by Emiliano – they are invited to act immediately, also because cross-controls will be activated by the ASL prevention departments also with the support of the police to make sure that all passengers on planes or boats resident in Puglia who return from Sardinia as of August 15 have effectively self-reported upon arrival in Puglia, in order to verify that they are complete “.
The measure comes at the end of a few days in which the news of new infections on the island has not stopped. The carpet tests ordered by the health authorities in Costa Smeralda have begun to give the first results: Phi beach 21 employees tested positive, while a Leeward staff member was hospitalized yesterday in serious condition and is now intubated. A situation that has led the Civil Defense to have a plan of ships and planes dedicated to the return home of the tourists and workers who have been stranded on the island because they are positive for Covid.

we need you.
In these weeks of pandemic, journalists, if we do our job conscientiously, we do a public service. Also for this reason, every day here at ilfattoquotidiano.it we are proud to offer hundreds of new content for free to all citizens: news, exclusive insights, expert interviews, surveys, videos and much more. All this work, however, comes at great financial cost. Advertising, at a time when the economy is stagnant, offers limited income. Not in line with the access boom. That is why I ask those who read these lines to support us. Give us a minimum contribution, equal to the price of a cappuccino per week, which is essential for our work.
