“I was starting to suck on myself, an inextricable tangle had been created. They gave me five hundred euros for each person on the calendar, but I had no power to grant permits or not.”

It is a passage from the deposition in the courtroom of the former secretary of the territorial commission for the recognition of international protection and political asylum of the Cagliari Prefecture, Francesco Alessi, in the trial against Asad Molla, the interpreter who along with Some compatriots would have created a system to bypass immigration rules and provide the necessary requirements to obtain favorable decisions from the commission itself.

Alessi, according to the accusation, would have lent favors to the group, along with a colleague, Pier Paolo Farci, in exchange for money (about 500 euros per person).

Both officials chose the way of negotiating guilt and, therefore, were called to testify in court at the interpreter, defended by lawyer Patrizio Rovelli.

Molla was the only one who opted for the trial after the request of the prosecution Andrea Vacca for immediate trial against 7 people, whose position was removed from those of the other 200 suspects.

At the end of the investigation, or rather of the two investigations, the one coordinated by Vacca and the one carried out by his colleague Alessandro Pili, then reunited, 196 people ended up under investigation, 28 of whom were Italian.

The seven who went to immediate trial must respond in various capacities to criminal association, corruption, money laundering and the fictitious intestacy of assets.

The trial in Molla will continue on October 15 with the interrogation of Alessi and the examination in the classroom of Pier Paolo Farci, defended respectively by Pierluigi Concas and Francesco Marongiu.
