On May 9, two new positives were identified in Covid-19 at Terni Hospital, which affected medical and nursing staff. Both operators were symptomatic. Therefore, the position of the company’s management that, according to the regional working group and the COR, is adopting additional security measures to avoid frustrating the efforts already made to contain the risk of hospital infection and start again. with regularity assistance activity becomes more decisive.
The Santa María hospital company communicates this through its own note.
To this end, we will first proceed to temporarily suspend the activity in the department where the operator is positive, to carry out a more thorough disinfection operation. In addition, the swabs will be repeated for all staff in the areas involved for the purpose of readmission to work. The security measures adopted and the evaluation through ongoing molecular tests will immediately exclude any other case in order to be able to start again with phase two of this emergency. Additional preventive measures refer to the obligation to measure the body temperature of all operators when entering the service to complete the shift (using the infrared thermometers provided by the Civil Protection in recent days) and to compulsorily and quickly report the possible appearance of even very mild and generic symptoms, in this case avoiding access to the hospital by the operators themselves.
Just as strict restrictions and rules have been imposed on visitors, special measures are also taken for operators, so that in non-Covid areas there is no tendency to lower their guard during this delicate phase. For this reason, the temporary closure of all so-called herbal teas within hospital services is also ordered with the simultaneous prohibition of requesting and accepting products to take from abroad.
In the meantime, we await the result of molecular tests that, after the positive cases found on May 4 and 5, have already been repeated after approximately five days in the operators and in possible contacts with patients.
