A few hours after the decision of the TAR, which ‘rejected’ the order of the President of the Region, who in recent days had given the green light to the service at outdoor tables for bars, restaurants, patisseries and farms, the governor Jole Santelli has taken over the project “Riparti Calabria” and, with a new ordinance, added another piece to the difficult path to a return to normality.
From Sunday 10 May, therefore, in Calabria it is possible to reach the second houses, together with a single member of the family, for maintenance work and with the obligation to return to the same house in the same afternoon; you can buy with several members of the same family, the same to visit cemeteries; Sports are also allowed in structures and clubs, but in open spaces, with a maximum of two people living together and with compulsory return the same day; animal husbandry and training; research and collection of spontaneous products from the land (non-woody plants, fruits, epigenic fungi and truffles); grooming, by appointment, for pets and company in authorized establishments.
Finally, the regional ordinance reaffirms the compulsory use of masks for all subjects who attend one of the permitted activities and, in any case, in any situation in which interpersonal distance is not guaranteed. Similarly, hygiene measures and precautions must be strictly observed. In any case, any form of mounting is prohibited.
Meanwhile, however, the green light on serving outdoor tables for bars and restaurants, blocked on Saturday afternoon with the Tar ruling, has opened up a controversial political front, especially between the majority and the opposition, by Government and the Calabria region, but not only. the Cosenza, the only capital city of Calabria where commercial activities had followed the regional ordinance, exhibitors criticize the blockade and are very ready to move on.
This morning, the owner of a bar, in a downtown area, chained herself in protest: “We spent our last money – he told journalists, cameramen and spectators – to adapt our restaurant to the rules of open service. Now, Who pays us? They use us like a pair of shoes, first they take us out and then they put us back in the closet. But we, he added almost crying, we are honest people who only want to work, we are families, we cannot pay the stories of confrontations politicians. It’s not absolutely fair. “
Leaving controversy and protests aside, Calabria, between phase 2 and phase 3, comes to terms with a particularly difficult economic and social recovery. The Region has allocated 120 million euros to finance businesses, with non-refundable contributions, but obviously it cannot be enough to face the economic damage caused by two months of inactivity.
At the gates, then, there is a summer season, which many operators await for a breath of oxygen in their cases, yet to be written. In all this, the only positive notes come from the number of infections, from a week between 0 and 5, and from the number of “red zones”, which has gone from 15 to 1. After all, for now, the best news.
