WhatsApp’s multi-device feature is available in beta for now.

WhatsApp is working on a couple of new features that are slated to roll out in 2020. The giant owned by Facebook has recently been working on a feature that will allow WhatsApp to run on multiple devices simultaneously. The feature is already available in the Telegram app and is said to land on WhatsApp with the tag “multi-device support.”

According to a WABetaInfo report, the feature was spotted again in the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android. Version number 2.20.143 is now available to most beta users worldwide.

WhatsApp has added a “Scan QR Code” option in the WhatsApp Web section of the application. Just below the option, the page mentions: “Use WhatsApp on other devices”. This is a clear indication that the company is testing the long-awaited multi-device support feature.

Once the feature is available to the masses, the company will also be able to roll out the app for iPad users. Other than that, this feature has many other use cases. If you simply use WhatsApp Web while using your PC, your phone does not need to remain connected to the Internet at all times.

In other news, Facebook is preparing to monetize WhatsApp. This means that for next year we will start seeing ads as we scroll through stories like on Instagram. Also, a recent WhatsApp Beta update has pointed towards integrating Facebook Messenger Rooms into the app. Finally, the company recently announced support for up to 8 group call participants.
