56 positives admitted to Reunites (8 in intensive care)

The increase in infections and hospital admissions clearly indicates that Puglia, and with it the entire Capitanata, is rapidly entering the announced ‘second wave’ of coronavirus, which is expected precisely with the arrival of autumn.

Today’s epidemiological bulletin, issued by the Puglia region, counts 10 new positive cases in Foggiano, and this is certainly not one of the most worrying data in recent days. To date, 56 patients with Covid-19 are hospitalized in the wards of the Riuniti Polyclinic in Foggia.

“The number is quite stable, because hospitalizations are offset by discharges,” explains a Foggia today the general manager of the ‘Riuniti’ Vitangelo Dattoli. “To date we have 20 hospitalized patients in the Pulmonology department (in the ‘D’Avanzo’ complex, ed) and the same number in the department of Infectious Diseases; again, there are 8 patients in intensive care and another 8 in treatment in the post-acute module ”.

To cope with the situation, the Polyclinic is rapidly reorganizing itself according to the scenarios that are slowly emerging: “We are activating the ‘level three’ of the emergency. This means that a third module on Pulmonology, another on Infectious Diseases and another on Resuscitation, as planned in our programming ”.

The container that, outside of emergencies, has replaced the triage tent is always active: “It is an advanced medical post, with air conditioning, certainly more comfortable and functional than the tent”, explains Dattoli.

New positive cases were also found among the employees of ‘Riuniti’: “We have had three cases in total,” says the CEO. “The correctness of the procedures adopted by administrators, nurses and health professionals, their correction and self-determination prevented other infections from occurring. Swabs were made for each case and all were negative ”.
