Directed by Paul Greengrass (director among other things of the films of the Jason Bourne saga) United 93 chronicles the bravery of the passengers on the flight of the same name, who opposed the hijackers by rebelling and sacrificing themselves, avoiding the planned accident at the White House. The film exploits the style of the handheld camera and reconstructs the events through the collaboration that took place with family members who assisted in the production of the film.
World trade center
In chronological order, this is the second narrative-inspired film dedicated to September 11 and dates from 2008.
Oliver stone signs the true story of John McLoughlin and Will Jimeno (Nicolas Cage and Michael Peña) telling the story of the two policemen who survived the hell of fire and cement in the hours immediately after the impact of the two aircraft against the Twin Towers. The two protagonists are among the few people who remained under the rubble when they were taken out still alive (of twenty people saved, they were number 18 and 19 respectively). Produced on a budget of $ 65 million, it is perhaps one of the most expensive films about tragedies.
Fahrenheit 9/11
In fact, the movie of Micheal moore 2004 is the first real cinematographic work based on the events of September 11 but in documentary form.
Winner of the Cannes Palme d’Or, Fahrenheit 9/11 takes the presidency of George W. The film is based on the novel of the same name written by Jonathan Safran Foer And despite a not exactly flawless execution, it tells in a simple way the trauma of those who were left on the other side, of those who lost the most important people in the world, such as a father or a mother.
The film tells the story of Oskar Schell and his mourning for the loss of his father (Tom Hanks) due to the attacks on the Twin Towers. In the film we find Thomas Horn in the role of Oskar, Sandra Bullock, Max von Sydow, Viola Davis, John Goodman, Jeffrey Wright. Perhaps the most constructed movie of the post-9/11 era, but also the most familiar.
September 11, 2001
The first real film project dedicated to September 11, 2001, hitting theaters exactly one year after the tragedy. The film consists of a series of episodes signed by different directors (Youssef Chahine, Amos Gitaï, Alejandro González Iñárritu, Shohei Imamura, Claude Lelouch, Ken Loach, Samira Makhmalbaf, Mira Nair, Idrissa Ouedraogo, Sean Penn and Danis Tanovic) lasted 11 minutes, 9 seconds and 1 frame. A set of different and differentiated short films but united by a single common thread. It is not very easy to recover but it is among the most interesting projects in this regard.
