Two shots fired on the beach in front of dozens of swimmers enjoying the last weekend of summer on the shore of Torvaianica, on the coast of Rome. The bullets fired at point-blank range hit Selavdi Shehaj called “Simone”, a 38-year-old Albanian with a history of drugs in his back. The man was injured, although perhaps the intention of those who pulled the trigger was to carry out a murder. An ambush studied in every detail and that by the modalities immediately led the investigators on the track of the reckoning matured in a round of bad luck.
Rome, ambush on the beach of Torvaianica: wounded wounded by gunfire
Terror in a factory in Torvaianica where two hitmen acted this morning. It was 10:30 am when two hooded men stopped in front of the “Bora Bora” plant. A bandit entered the beach and drew a gun when he shot a swimmer. At least three shots were fired.
A style of execution -which only by chance did not turn out to be such- that refers to that of Gaetano Marino, known as “Moncherino”, head of the Camorra clan of the Escisionistas, who died in a bathing suit, riddled with bullets in front of a factory Zone Terracina Baths, amid terrified bathers. On that occasion, it was August 2012, the killers shot him at point-blank range a dozen times and then fled by car. A modus operandi very similar to the one that occurred yesterday morning on the shore of the “Bora Bora” plant on the Sirenas promenade.
THE FACTS
It is just after 10.30 am and Torvaianica beach welcomes dozens of bathers who, despite the unpromising weather conditions, have decided to spend Sunday on the beach on the last day of the season, before saying goodbye to the summer. Many come from the capital, 30 kilometers away by car. A man approaches the 38-year-old Albanian, a partner of the owner of the facility, and opens fire. Two shots that hit “Simone”, as they nicknamed him, in the back. The stranger faints and falls into the water. This is where some bathers help you first. As the murderer disappears into the crowd and heads towards the street, where his accomplice awaits him aboard a scooter, someone calls for help. Simone is at sea in a bloody swimsuit. The ambulance arrives, the health workers stabilize him and place him in the helicopter heading to San Camillo, where Simone arrives in serious condition, but would not be in danger of death.
THE VOICES
However, most of those who were on the beach seem not to remember much. And there is little desire to speak. “We were sleeping – says a woman, next to the sea with her daughters – we were only awakened by the sound of the helicopter when it landed on the beach.” “We have just arrived – says someone else – and it was all over. We haven’t seen or heard anything. ‘ “It looked like a scene from Gomorrah,” said another. But yesterday morning some useful elements for the investigation emerged.
THE IDENTIKIT
Of the testimonies collected by the police, there is more than one that points to a man dressed as a runner who, with his face covered and curiously just before the shooting, was jogging on the beach. Researchers are now turning their attention to it.
The “lonely” corridor refers to another excellent murder, that of Fabrizio Piscitelli alias “Diabolik”, the Lazio ultras leader who was assassinated in August a year ago in the park of the Aqueducts of Rome. The murderer disguised as a runner placed a bullet in the back of his neck, in an area controlled by the Camorra. «I remember that man who was running along the shore – says one of the witnesses – I realized because he was well dressed, you couldn’t see his face. He was covered with a blue scarf and a mask. I wondered why, since I was alone and far from others. I can’t say that he was the one who shot but after that bloody event I never saw him again, as if he had disappeared. Then there is the Albanian illness and the ambush that leaves one thinking about nothing but drugs.
