TREVISO New coronavirus outbreak in the nursing home. At the Villa Tomasi di Spresiano service center, a stone’s throw from the church, 47 people were infected: 36 elderly and 11 operators. The first positive aspects emerged last Wednesday. Ten elderly and three operators were initially affected by the virus. Not even 24 hours later a death was recorded: a 95-year-old woman, already forced to live with previous serious pathologies and tested positive for Covid-19, lost her life after being transferred to the department of infectious diseases of the Treviso hospital. On Saturday, the USL della Marca mouth task completed the round of swabs of all the people who live and work in the nursing home, including the negatives: 93 elderly and 61 operators. And the results that came in late yesterday afternoon highlighted the exponential expansion of the outbreak. Two other elderly people had to be admitted for infectious diseases. Most, however, do not have any symptoms.
MEASUREMENTS
The retirement home of the Prealpina group immediately took countermeasures. The guests with positive coronavirus were isolated in two nuclei separated from the rest of the structure, on the ground floor and first floor of the old wing, with the simultaneous creation of one-way streets and independent entrances. Infected people are followed by dedicated staff. While the positive operators were placed in home isolation. The center is now armored: new entrances have been suspended and family visits have been blocked. Today will have the visit of the coordinating doctor and the infectious diseases specialist of the Local Health Authority of the Brand.
“We have always respected the precautionary measures against the spread of Covid-19, providing all protection devices. It is easy to imagine that the virus came from outside. At the moment, however, it is not possible to reconstruct the path, explains lawyer Giuseppe Franceschetto, administrator of Prealpina Srl, we did not notice the infection before because no symptoms had arisen. In other words, the starting point for deflating the bud. “We hope to get out of this situation as soon as possible,” says Franceschetto.

The Municipality is also willing to support the service center from a logistical point of view through its Civil Protection team. The city council has made available about twenty cots.
