Coronavirus, updates on the epidemiological situation in Italy in the new bulletin of the Ministry of Health today, Thursday, March 25, 2021. There are 23,696 infections registered in the last 24 hours of 349,472 processed tests (antigenic and molecular). Yesterday there were 21,267 new cases out of 363,767 swabs. Therefore, the positivity rate rises to 6.8%. The good news is the decrease in hospitalized patients with symptoms (-14), while intensive care continues to increase (+32 hospitalized in 24 hours). In total, there are 260 accesses to rooms in critical areas that bring the number of hospitalized with coronavirus in resuscitation to 3,620. The decrease in hospitalizations, although slight, is the first since last February 23 (see graphs below). A positive sign even in a difficult situation.
At the national level, according to the latest monitoring by the Gimbe Foundation, both the alert thresholds for the occupation of beds by Covid patients in the medical area (more than 40%) and in intensive care (more than 30%) are exceeded: 43 % and 39% respectively. The alarm threshold was exceeded in 10 and 12 Regions respectively for the medical area and for intensive care.
The number of infections is still very high, but a slight change in trend is beginning to be seen. If we take into account the cases registered between Monday and Thursday compared to the previous two weeks, we can actually observe a decrease in the new positives.
