I’m 23,059 i new cases of coronavirus in Italy (yesterday it was +20,396, here the newsletter). Go up like this at least 3,281,810 the number of people who have contracted the SARS-CoV-2 virus (including those recovered and killed) since the outbreak began. THE deaths today I’m 431 (yesterday was +502), for a total of 103,432 victims as of February 2020. People recovered or discharged they are all together 2,639,370 me 19,716 those who came out of the Covid nightmare today (yesterday +14,116). the positive current – subjects who have the virus – turn out to be in everything 539,008, equal to +2,893 compared to yesterday (+5,758 the day before). the rise of positive current today – with the pi sign in front – because the cured, added to the deaths, are fewer than in the new cases.
The swabs and the stage
I total swabs (molecular and antigenic) were 369,084, or 291 less than yesterday when there were 369,375. the positivity rate 6.2% (the approximation of 6.247%): means that out of 100 swabs performed, more than 6 were positive; yesterday it was 5.5%. Here is the map of contagion in Italy.
More infections in 24 hours than yesterday (2,663 more), versus 291 fewer tampons (practically the same total number as yesterday). The curve goes up – it always occurs on Wednesdays – and continues its oscillation – now up to go down on the weekend and on Monday – as it did in previous weeks, with a number of new infections above the threshold of 20 thousand per second. consecutive day e a case / test ratio that increases to 6.2% from 5.5% on Tuesday. From the comparison with last Wednesday, when +22,409 cases were reported with a positive rate of 6.2%, it is observed that the scenario does not improve. But it does not change much, since the percentage of positivity of today indicates that the same as last Wednesday. The growth of the curve appears slower and longer in time than the October-November trend: there is no increase that has characterized the peak of the second wave, as shown in the image of the curve below. There are those who think that the new peak will soon be reached.

The Lombardy the region most affected by the number of new infections (+4,490, here the bulletin) with 59,000 swabs, which is the highest number of regional tests of the day. More than 2,000 in descending order follow: Campania (+2,665), Piedmont (+2,374, here the newsletter), Veneto (+2,191) ed Emilia romagna (+2,026). Having more than a thousand new cases are: Apulia (+1,734), Lazio (+1,728) e Tuscany (+1,275). All other regions report a two- or three-digit increase.
Globally, new cases are increasing for the third week in a row, as indicated by the WHO weekly report, with + 10% globally compared to the previous week. Italy among the five countries with the highest number of new positives: in seven days our country registered 155,076 new cases per week (+ 12%), ranking fourth behind Brazil (494,153 new cases; + 20%), the United States (461,190 new cases; + 8%) and France (161,159 new cases; + 12%). Behind Italy is India (148,249 new cases; + 30%).
The victims
The victims are decreasing: they are 431 against 502 the day before (71 less). Too many. There is something wrong. I am not convinced by this low number of new cases and this very high number of deaths – explains microbiologist Andrea Crisanti from Adnkronos Salute -. In my opinion, there must be an understatement somewhere. We count the dead well, but I think we underestimate the positives, I can’t understand why. Today, no region has zero mourning for the second day in a row, while the highest number of deaths in Lombardy (+79), Veneto (+59), Emilia romagna (+52) my Piedmont (+41) Below are the details of all regions.
The health system
The pressure on health facilities continues to mount. Occupied beds in the ordinary rooms of Covid I’m +419 (yesterday +760), for a total of 26,517 hospitalized. THE beds occupied in intensive care (ICU) I’m +61 (yesterday +99), bringing the total of more seriously ill to 3,317. The variation in the number of occupied beds, in critical and non-critical areas, indicates the balance between patients who left and those who entered in the last 24 hours.
