The seats available on the third floor of the pavilion are 155. “A distribution – said Giani shortly after the ribbon cutting – of great importance from the point of view of health at the regional level. A work built in record time thanks to the commitment of all those involved. I am especially grateful to Stefano Baccelli, who personally followed the work as a regional councilor every day. With Mayor Tambellini we immediately spoke about the future of Campo di Marte: the Municipality has always been present, also requesting the question of the presence of the necessary health personnel. We have a really important challenge ahead of us: that of a Tuscany facing the emergency of the coronavirus: we have had to face a dramatic situation. The covid is in front of us not only as an exceptional event ”.
“This new pavilion – continues the president of the Region – allows us to look at Covid as a pathology to study, to investigate without invading the spaces of ordinary hospitals that, once the emergency is over, must live. your business. It is an extremely important structure, complementary to ordinary activity and that gives the feeling of extraordinary work that our civil protection, together with the ASL, has achieved in little more than a month ”.
What is the specific destination that the new beds created in this emergency phase currently have?
“We still have thousands of Covid diseases and this pavilion allows us to avoid renting health hotels. People who, both before, when they do not have a compromised respiratory situation, and later, when they are still positive but have passed the intensive care phase – he added – find their point of reference here. In perspective, when the emergency has passed, in Lucca, we are talking about the relationship with the territory with the hospitals destined for intermediate care, therefore, for long stays. Such a structure is another thing compared to field hospitals, it allows us to have a destination now and forever ”.
The regional councilor did not hide his satisfaction Stefano baccelli: “Mine is the thrill of a satisfied Lucchese and the thrill and pride of seeing this hospital remodeled again. The hired workers made a true work of art. We have a defense tool against pandemic and a tool that will integrate the availability of beds in our area in the coming years ”.
Even the mayor Tambellini expresses its satisfaction with the completion of the project, with an attentive look at the future and the intended use that the structure may have in an ordinary health situation: “The beds of the Campo di Marte hospital, are used for Covid, because we are still in full emergency. Once this stage is over we need to think about the continuity of these spaces for their use, are new spaces that can become important moments integrated in the field of territorial medicine, also in accordance with the directives that come from Europe, or from the highest consciousness of public health – concludes Tambellini – Therefore, the perspective is create Prerequisites for an increasingly broad integration of healthcare, from the moment of hospital treatment until now, until the return to daily life, the different phases must pass from territorial medicine. The territory is very important and these structures are dedicated to the territory, because that is their specific function ”.
“It is another important day for our health care – said the general manager Maria Letizia Casani – and I want to thank President Giani, his councilors and regional civil protection for their collaboration and the strength with which they have supported us in this operation, as well as for the new beds recently inaugurated in Prato. For the intervention in Campo di Marte, I also thank our professionals, our technical department and the companies that have worked tirelessly to achieve this result. The Covid situation in the hospitals of our company and throughout the region It is certainly better than a few months ago, given that hospitalizations are decreasing, but we must not lower our guard and slow down the planning and creation of new beds that can be used in case of need. It should also be noted that, in addition to these 150 beds, there is an additional reservoir of beds, about fifty, that we had already prepared during the first wave and that in part (those for intermediate care) were reactivated in the previous weeks ”. .
Along with the general director of the ASL were present, among others, the medical director Luca Lavazza and the administrative director Gabriele Morotti, the personnel director Francesco bellomo, the coordinator of the hospital network Michela Maielli, the director of the Piana di Lucca District District Luigi rossi and the director of the technical and patrimonial department Nicola Ceragioli.
The beds have been recovered thanks to the work oftechnical office of the company and many companies, mostly from Lucca, who worked in record time and non-stop (including Saturdays and Sundays) to carry out the project.
the maxi patio was born thanks to a regional contract of 2 million euros and now Hall A is ready to become a kind of “extension” of the infectious diseases departments of the region. The new 150 beds equipped for the Covid emergency, in fact, are intended to house patients from all over Tuscany.
