Summer is ending, leaving us among the main legacies the return of the trip by car (or caravan), the rediscovery of the interior at a disadvantage of the beaches and the exponential development of outdoor areas in cities. But even in a very special year, the beginning of autumn did not lose a pleasant tradition: that of a stay, short or long, in relais wine, structures linked to wineries. Not necessarily the giants of the sector, since there are also medium-sized companies that are well organized.
The novelty compared to past seasons is the absence of the majority of foreign visitors, who had reached 90% of the total in some areas (Piedmont and Tuscany, above all). A phenomenon similar to what still happens in the cities of art, which certainly does not make the owners happy. But at the same time, never like today, it will be Italians – we are talking about 40% of novices – who will come to the wine relay to discover a fascinating world.

The strong points are the classics: places of great beauty, in the middle of vineyards that can be visited, sometimes participating in the harvest. There are real castles, with ancient rooms and underground cellars, but also contemporary relays manage to be suggestive. The wine, through many tastings, is the absolute protagonist but the table is still very importantEither at the top of the guides or at a local tavern. To increase the attractiveness, the structures -whether they are new or old- have been equipped with the services most in demand today, starting with the spas where in some cases wine therapy is practiced whose benefits are known, beyond originality.
