AVIANO (Pn) – Fourteen Cro di Aviano operators were found positive for Covid-19 today: a doctor radiation therapist, 9 radiotherapy technicians, manager of health physics, technician in training, laboratory biologist and research collaborator. This was communicated by the deputy governor of the Fvg with responsibility for Health, Riccardo Riccardi, to whom I reminded how yesterday an employee of the same Cro had tested positive for the virus.
While waiting to evaluate the impact of confirmed positive cases on the operation of the radiotherapy service, the direction of the CRO, in agreement with the Region, has ordered the suspension of all sessions scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, October 20. The schedule for the following days will be reorganized according to the shifts actually available. The users affected by the rescheduling have been contacted by the healthcare staff and their appointments, in any case, will be recovered as soon as possible. As highlighted by the lieutenant governor, a timely identification of positivity was carried out thanks to the capillary and continuous screening action adopted by the structure according to active surveillance protocols from which health workers are systematically evaluated. In fact, the same traders had already recently been swabbed with a negative result.
As specified by the Institute, “the possibility of a contributing cause cannot be excluded, at least in some cases, due to contacts between operators outside the work environment.” All contact verifications are currently being completed to ensure a safe resumption of radiotherapy service.
A PALMANOVA
Two health workers from the Palmanova hospital unit tested positive for Covid-19 today. This was announced by the Deputy Governor responsible for Health, Riccardo Riccardi. As pointed out by the Health Authority of the Friuli Centrale University (Asufc), the procedures for sanitation of the environments and the follow-up and activation of contact monitoring were activated immediately, both for health professionals and users. Finally, Asufc’s management, recalling the importance of the use of protection devices, stressed that the situation is under control.
