13 pages missing from the sentence: the trial of Saronno’s killer nurse sentenced to 30 years is remade

Last night the Court of Cassation annulled the 30-year sentence of Laura Taroni, an emergency nurse from Saronno (Varese) accused of killing her mother and her husband, along with the lover of medicine Leonardo Cazzaniga. The reason? An administrative error. Therefore, the judges decided that the appeal process should be carried out again before a new section of the Milan Court of Appeals, accepting the appeal of the woman’s lawyer Cataldo Intrieri because the sentence was pronounced on July 2 and presented on November 30 – which confirmed the verdict of the first instance of the investigating judge of Busto Arsizio – was incomplete: in the 122 pages of motivation, in fact, 13 pages related to the capacity of understanding and desire of the charged.

“The decision does not refer only to the fact that the sentence was incomplete”, explained the lawyer Intrieri, “because the Court of Appeal of Milan had forgotten part of the motivation, but also the evidence on the responsibility of the murders”. Then he added: “the case is reopened.”
