PORDENONE – Pietro was 12 years old, he lived in the Querceto hills in Sesto Fiorentino and had a special bond with Pordenone: grandparents, uncles, cousins and many friends who loved him. His mother, Pordenone’s doctor Chiara Beltrame, found him unconscious Tuesday afternoon in the bathroom, next to the tub. She was looking for him from room to room, he didn’t answer, then found the bathroom door closed and was alarmed.
It was 4.30 pm. He managed to get in through the window and found his son on the floor. It was she herself who practiced the first resuscitation maneuvers. Then the alarm in the 118 central, which sent ambulance and rescue by helicopter: all useless, Pietro never regained consciousness and the rescuers, after dark, had to surrender.
THE RESULTS
Everything points to a domestic accident. However, the Florence prosecutor opened an investigation file to understand what could have happened to the 12-year-old boy. The child may have accidentally slipped, or even passed out, then hit her head against the bathtub and sustained a head injury. The deputy prosecutor Vito Bertoni is evaluating the documents presented by the police officers of the station and the Signa company, intervened together with the colleagues who are in charge of the technical-scientific surveys. It is not ruled out that the magistrate scrupulously decides to trust a forensic doctor to identify the precise causes of death.
PAIN
There are no words to comfort the family. Pietro was the son of two doctors: Chiara Beltrame and Paolo Cecchini, both of whom work at the Torregalli hospital and have a second child. The boy’s grandparents, the painter Daniela Borsoi and the architect Roman Piero Beltrame, immediately left Pordenone and joined their daughter in Tuscany. The whole family is experiencing excruciating pain. The Querceto and Sesto Fiorentino community is virtually embracing them with many messages of condolence and affection. Messages also addressed to Pietro, who was a cheerful and very sporty boy. One of his passions was basketball, he played on the Sesto 2008 basketball team. News of his disappearance on Tuesday night spread quickly. Memories and affectionate words have appeared on the WhatsApp profiles of colleagues and on social networks. His basketball team published a black post in mourning. His classmates and teachers whom he had just seen in class were also shocked after the sudden interruption of classes due to the pandemic.
IN PORDENONE
News of yesterday’s tragedy also began to leak into Pordenone. Pietro used to come here to spend a few days of vacations or weekends with his grandparents, his aunt Laura Beltrame, also an architect and civil servant of the municipality of Pordenone, and his cousins. He had also made friends who now do not rest. The Frisanco community also gathered around the Beltrame family: even there Pietro knew him well, he always came with his parents when there were gatherings in the old family house, on the occasion of the festivities, all over the fire pit, with children cooking chestnuts and memories of the past that resurface. Pietro had a great time. Now there is only silence and so much pain for an absurd tragedy, to which no one can resign. Last update: 23:51
