Covid Italia, today’s newsletter October 17, 2020. There are 10,925 new cases of coronavirus in Italy. The deaths registered in the last 24 hours are 47. For the second day in a row, the increase in coronavirus positives in Italy exceeds the threshold of 10,000 cases with 47 deaths, as we prepare to face a weekend of nightlife with the fear that the many outbreaks will spread too quickly. In the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health recorded 10,925 infections in another record of tampons (165,837). An increase that however does not weigh much on the incidence between positives and swabs that remains stable at 6.6%. Intensive therapies, on the other hand, reach 705, affecting Lombardy (96) and Lazio (98) in particular. There are 6,617 hospitalized (+439), while the patients in home isolation are 109,613 (+9,117). The positives are currently 116,935 (+9,623). Deaths reached the figure of 36,474 while those cured are 249,127 (+1,255).

Lazio
Out of almost 28 thousand tampons, a real record, today in Lazio there are 994 positive cases (the figure takes into account 200 recoveries of notifications from Roma 2 ASL and Frosinone ASL), 12 deaths and 62 recovered. The positives in the swabs performed are 3.6%.
Tuscany
In Tuscany there are 879 more cases of positivity to the coronavirus today than yesterday (826 identified in the course of the screening and 53 of the detection activities) out of a total of 21,896 cases registered since the beginning of the epidemic. Yesterday 755 infected were registered. New cases are 4.2% more than the total of the previous day. The average age of the 879 cases today is approximately 44 years (24% are less than 20 years old, 23% between 20 and 39, 25% between 40 and 59, 17% between 60 and 79, 11 % are 80 years or older). Those cured grew 1.3% and reached 11,460 (52.3% of all cases).
The swabs performed reached 903,865, 13,548 more than yesterday. 9,220 subjects tested (excluding control swabs), of which 9.5% were positive. The current positives are 9,247 today, + 8.6% compared to yesterday. There are 394 hospitalized (35 more than yesterday), of which 50 in intensive care (1 less). Today there are 2 new deaths: a man and a woman with an average age of 82.5 years (1 in Florence, 1 in Arezzo).
Emilia romagna
The number of new daily infections in Emilia-Romagna continues to grow: there are 641 compared to yesterday, out of 13,313 swabs performed, so the total number of cases since the beginning of the epidemic has exceeded 40 thousand (40,333). Five deaths and hospitalizations also increase: 65 patients in intensive care (+4) and 427 (+23) are hospitalized in other Covid wards. Of the new positives, 282 are asymptomatic, 261 were already isolated and 228 were identified in known outbreaks.
The current mean age is 42.5 years. This is the situation in the provinces: Bologna (153), Modena (81), Reggio Emilia (74), Ferrara (71), Rimini (67), Piacenza (53), Parma (42), Ravenna (27). Then Forlì (38), Cesena (23) and Imola (12). Specifically, in Ferrara there are 21 cases among the guests of the facilities for the elderly, of which 19 are asymptomatic. Active cases are 8,649 (+616), people in isolation at home are 8,157 (+589), more than 95% of active cases, while those cured are 20 more. The dead today are all men: two in Parma (87 and 62 years old), two in Modena (87 and 95 years old), one in Rimini (67 years old).
Puglia
The president of the Puglia Region, Michele Emiliano, based on the information from the director of the Department of Health Promotion, Vito Montanaro, reports that today in Puglia 5382 tests were carried out for the Covid-19 coronavirus infection and recorded 350 positive cases: 158 in the province of Bari, 15 in the province of Brindisi, 21 in the province of BAT, 89 in the province of Foggia, 9 in the province of Lecce, 54 in the province of Taranto, 4 attributed to residents outside the region. 2 deaths were recorded in the province of Taranto. Since the beginning of the emergency, 484,125 tests have been carried out, while 5,472 patients are cured and 4,980 are currently positive cases.
Umbria
There are 205 new cases of Covid positivity verified in Umbria in the last 24 hours, compared to a large number of swabs processed, 3,525. There is one more death (there are 92 in total): it is a 75-year-old man who died yesterday morning at the Terni hospital. There are 35 cured (2,188 since the start of the pandemic), but there is a leap forward in the number of hospitalized: 25 more in the last 24 hours and 115 in total. Of these, 16 are in intensive care (one more than yesterday). The positives are currently 2,135. In total, 249,890 swabs have been performed in Umbria so far. This is what emerges from the official data of the Region updated to October 17.
Campania
A new leap forward for positives in Campania: 1,410 (1,343 asymptomatic, 67 symptomatic) compared to the previous 1,261 out of 14,704 swabs. There are no deaths and 74 recovered during the day, these are the data from today’s bulletin of the Regional Crisis Unit for the implementation of measures for the prevention and management of the epidemiological emergency of Covid-19. The total of positives is 24,443 units while the total of swabs is 751,931. The number of occupied intensive care beds is 75 out of 110 in total, while the number of occupied hospital beds is 817 out of 840 in total.
South tyrol
In the last 24 hours, the laboratories of the South Tyrol health authority made 1,714 swabs. 155 new positive cases were registered. Therefore, the number of people who tested positive for coronavirus rises to 4,648. Currently, 63 Covid-19 patients are hospitalized in normal hospital wards, another 10 are isolated at the Colle Isarco facility. There are seven Covid patients admitted to intensive care units at the moment. The total number of deaths has remained unchanged and stands at 293 people. There are 3,709 people in home isolation (of which 18 return from Croatia, Greece, Spain or Malta). There are 3,841 healed people, says a note from the health authority.
Market
In the last 24 hours, the positives of coronavirus in the Marche region have still remained above one hundred: 121 among the 1,221 new diagnoses made. The most affected is the province of Ancona with 35 new cases; they are followed by Pesaro Urbino (25), Ascoli Piceno (21), Macerata (19) and Fermo (16); five cases come from outside the region. The Marche Region Health Service announced that 2,194 swabs were tested on the last day: 1,221 on the new diagnostic route and 973 on the cured route. New infections include symptomatic subjects (19), household contacts (42), close contacts of positive cases (24), three returns from abroad (France, Albania and Dubai), cases detected by screening carried out on the route of health (2), contacts in a work environment (2), in a living / entertainment environment (12), in a care environment (3), in a school / training environment (6). Epidemiological investigations are underway for eight cases.
Abruzzo
148 new cases of coronavirus have been found in the last hours in Abruzzo. 3,103 swabs emerged from the analysis. The positives are equal to 4.76%. Of the total number of new cases, 72 correspond to the province of Teramo, 39 to L’Aquila, 21 to Pescarese and 15 to Chietino, while the residence of a patient is being investigated. There are two recent deaths: a 69-year-old from Aquila and an 82-year-old from Chieti province. The death toll stands at 493. The current positives are 2,294: 169 patients (+2 compared to yesterday) are hospitalized in non-intensive care and 13 (+2) are in intensive care. The other 2,112 are in home isolation. The healed are 3,186 (+12). Today’s new cases are between 3 and 89 years old.
Basilicata
Ninety of the 1,140 swabs examined in the last 24 hours in Basilicata are positive for covid-19: this was announced by the regional working group, adding that “currently positive Lucanians are 536.” Compared to yesterday, two people have recovered from the coronavirus, while 40 people are hospitalized in the Potenza (35) and Matera (five) hospitals. Since the start of the health emergency, which killed 38 people in Basilicata, 87,691 swabs have been tested, 86,375 of which were negative.
Lombardy
In Lombardy, 2,664 new Covid19 positives were detected in the last 24 hours. This is what emerges from the aggregated data from the Ministry of Health. In relation to the swabs analyzed in the region (29,053), the percentage of positive for the virus rises to around 9.1%.

Sardinia
The contagions of Covid 19 in Sardinia do not stop: in the latest update of the regional crisis unit, there are 130 new cases and one death in the north of the island. In total, 226,794 swabs were performed with an increase of 2,995 tests compared to the last update. There are currently 192 hospitalized patients (+5 compared to yesterday’s figure), while the number of patients in intensive care is 30 (+1). There are 2,966 people in home isolation, 75 recently healed. Of the 5,866 positive cases verified in total, 928 (+24) were detected in the metropolitan city of Cagliari, 809 (+32) in the south of Sardinia, 452 (+19) in Oristano, 894 (+4) in Nuoro, 2,783 (+51)) in Sassari.
