In the period from November 11 to 24, 2020, the average transmissibility index Rt calculated in symptomatic cases was equal to 0.91. Rt values less than 1 are found in 16 Autonomous Regions and Provinces. This was revealed in the draft of the weekly follow-up of Iss-Ministry of Health. In the previous survey, the national index was 1.08. The experts of the institute recommend once again the maximum attention in the adoption and respect of the measures, avoiding the premature relaxation and maintaining a high attention in the conducts. According to the ISS, these data are encouraging and confirm the impact of the measures that accompany the decrease in hospitalizations in the medical area and in intensive care; however, the pressure on hospital services remains very high. This was revealed in the draft of the monitoring of the ISS-Ministry of Health.
Molise (1.31), Veneto (1.13), Calabria (1.06), Lazio (1.04) and Toscana (1.01) remain above 1 in the transferability index. Lombardy falls to 0.93, the lowest figure for Liguria (0.68).
The Higher Institute of Health report, as is well known, takes into account multiple factors to assess the risk of each individual region. As a result of this assessment, three regions (Sardinia, Puglia and Calabria) are still considered high risk and are invited to adopt new restrictive measures. In particular, it is highlighted that in 18 regions admissions to intensive care and medical areas are always above the critical threshold.
The incidence is still too high to allow sustainable management – here is another passage from the report – so it is necessary to achieve levels of transmission significantly lower than 1 throughout the national territory. Most regions are considered moderate risk. Although we recommend the maximum attention in the adoption and fulfillment of the measures, avoid premature relaxation and maintain high attention in the behaviors. It is essential that the population avoid all opportunities for contact between people outside their own residential area.
