It was the right time to tell Major Baby Yoda why the Mandorian director

In his second season, Dave Filoni, director of the fifth episode of The M Mandal Ndolorian, explains why his episode was the right time to make a big revelation about Baby Yoda’s background. This is a spoiler-filled story, so come back when you haven’t seen the episode yet.Season 2, Episode 5 – JD – reveals that Baby Yoda’s real name is Grogu. “The name has been around for a while,” Filoni told Vanity Fair. “John [Favreau] He told me early in season one what it would be, so I started thinking about how people could learn the name. This made me realize that Ahsoka, who is very tragic, would be able to connect with the child, and without words they would probably be able to communicate through memories and experiences. Through that connection, he learns the name and then says it to Mando and the audience. “

The episode features Ahoska Tano in The Mandal Ndolorian, JD Filoni previously co-produced with George Lucas for the Clone Wars animated TV show. Played by Rosario Donson for the live version, Philoni knew that Ahosoka would be a fan of unveiling some of the secrets surrounding Grogue.

“I thought if anyone knew or understood a child’s history, it would be Ahosoka,” Filoni said. “She has a long history. Keeping the story in relation to it also helps viewers understand its own backstory. ”The structure was based on how Obi-Wan unveiled the story of Unkin Skywer in the first Star Wars movie. “Through the story about Anakin, you’re getting a look at Obi-Wan and his backstory,” Filoni explained. “A lot of the scenes of the campfire, as I call it, have shaped that scene between Obi-Wan and Luke in a new hope.”
