Byron “Reckful” Bernstein, a popular Israeli-American Twitch streamer and former professional Esports player, killed himself on Friday at the age of 31, according to a report by Kotaku, a video game news website.
Bernstein was considered a household name in the online video game community, influencing numerous online video game streamers and garnering many viewers as one of the best players in World of Warcraft, a popular massively multiplayer online game (MMO) that is played Worldwide. He was also responsible for developing the Everland MMO, a game that focuses on helping “people find friendship and a sense of community.”
In recent years, Bernstein was open about his struggles with depression and mental health, while encouraging his followers to face their own trauma and personal difficulties.
Bernstein’s ex-girlfriend, another popular online personality by the name of Blue, expressed her grief over the loss of Bernstein and said on Twitter: “I knew Byron was kind when we first met. I was fighting with my father dying and I made a post He saw it and it appeared in my house after being there only once. He brought his favorite movie Almost Famous and was with me all night. I fell in love at the time. RIP Byron ”
