Israeli Ambassador tells Mark Levin UAE peace deal is first of many agreements with Arab world

Israeli Ambassador to the United States Ron Dermer told Fox News host Mark Levin on Thursday that he sees the agreement normalizing relations between Jerusalem and Abu Dhabi, which was cemented with the help of President Trump, the first of many will be that ‘ t comes in the Mideast region.

Dermer said on “The Mark Levin Show on Westwood One” that Trump’s team was integral to achieving normalization with the Emirates, and that it was also unusual because no session of land was involved.

Dermer said that when Egypt became the first Arab nation to normalize relations with Israel decades ago, the Israelis agreed to cede the Sinai Peninsula to the Cairo government. He noted that land mass is three times the size of the current Jewish state.

When normalization was achieved with Jordan, it came after the Oslo Accords of the 1990s, he said, leading to “dangerous” concessions.

“It’s a great day for Israel – a great day for peace,” he told Levin.

“What’s different about this is that the earlier peace agreements need some pretty big concession from Israel … Instead of ‘land for peace,’ we do ‘peace for peace.'”

Dermer added that one of the main reasons he believes more Arab countries will start negotiations with Israel in this way is because this particular agreement proved that the Palestinians do not necessarily need to be involved to make a deal.

TRUMP ANNOUNCEMENTS ‘HISTORICAL PEACE AGREEMENT’ BETWEEN ISRAEL, UAE

“I think you will see more days like this in the weeks and months ahead … I think a lot of people believe that the road to peace with the Arab States should go through Ramallah,” he said. However, Dermer added that any peace treaty with the Palestinians should involve Ramallah.

“[Normalization] goes through Cairo, it goes through Amman and now it has gone through Abu Dhabi, “he went through.” If we had a Palestinian partner who wanted peace, we would have made peace a century ago. “

“Because of the leadership of Donald Trump, … we have this historic breakthrough where Israel is not making these concessions.”

He added that the UAE is an important nation in the region and the new relationship will be mutually beneficial. He described Israel as second only to California in technological innovation, and the UAE a thriving nation with a large sector for technology and innovation.

“The Emirates is a very serious Arab country,” he said. “The relationship between Israel and the UAE will really stimulate prosperity throughout the region. I hope and expect that other dominoes will fall. And I finally think I think that will also open the door to peace with the Palestinians.”
