Left-handed British royalty is returned to Queen Victoria. During her lifetime, left-handedness was not widely accepted. Therefore, she wrote with her right hand, but painted with her left.

Although there is debate about how much genetics is involved in determining hand preferences, there have been many left-handed members of the royal family since Queen Victoria.

Notably, future King Prince William is a leftist, as is his uncle, Prince George. Prince William is very proud of his left-handed attribute and is not afraid to express his opinion on the matter. He said: “left-handers have better brains.” He also has high hopes of passing on the south paw trait to his children.

Superior intelligence is one of the many common associations with links. Several intelligent historical figures had a left-handed preference, including Benjamin Franklin and Leonardo da Vinci, and Albert Einstein. In truth, however, studies have conflicting results, or people with right or left hand have higher intelligence.

However, that does not mean that lefties do not have a ton of other great qualities. Only 10 percent of the population is left-handed, and they are a unique group of people. Numerous musicians such as Justin Bieber are left-handed, as are prominent actors, including Kate Hudson, Julia Roberts and Hugh Jackman.

Lefties can also claim a great sense of humor with Jerry Seinfeld and Tina Fey among their ranks. For sports fans, left-handed players are highly sought after. In multiple sports, southpaws have clear advantages.

MLB is notorious for looking for southpaw pitchers. They make up almost 30% of the pitches in the league and include many of the best, including Clayton Kershaw and David Price. The NBA is also full of leftie talents, including some of the best players the franchise has ever seen.

With so many prominent figures and celebrities having the leftie trait, you might be wondering who else is a South Paw. While the Duke of Cambridge is a leftist, his brother, Prince Harry, is not. His mother, the late Princess Diana, as well as his father, Prince Charles, were not either.

Prince Harry himself is not left-handed, but his wife has an even rarer hand preference. Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, is ambidextrous, a trait that makes up only 1 percent of the world’s population.

Of course, this does not mean that she has no preference. She typically writes with her left hand, but wants to eat with her right hand. She also holds her purse in her right hand, but had to adjust when she became a member of the royal family. Women in the royal family hold their bags in their left hands to keep their right hands free to greet men.

This is just one of many etiquette rules that the royal family must follow. No doubt, Meghan’s ambidextrous talents are just one of her admirable qualities.

Prince Harry may not be a leftist, but he shows the world that he is constantly showing his unique and independent thinking to the world. As the royal couple depart from Europe, the public looks forward to their journey. Perhaps they may even have a left-wing or ambidextrous child.
