In UFC 254 weigh facial weight-ins, Khabib Nurmagomedov looked nervous.
He was the first man up on Friday morning, but the lightweight king of the UFC took his time step forward, when he asked for a towel to cover himself, he was a little horrified so he could remove the excess power of his clothes. When he got a clear signal for Saturday’s main event he put his feet up delicately and then brought his hands to his face for relief.
155. Championship weight. Don’t worry about anything.
Was that there ???
Eager internet sources have pointed out that the official who checked the weight was quick to remove Nurmagomedov from the scale, although it appears that the scale belt appears to be tilting upwards, indicating that something is wrong. It should be noted that Nurmagomedov was not the only fighter to weigh himself at such a speed.
Officially, Nurmagomedov made the main entry of Saturday’s main title fight against Justin Gethsemane, but this brew didn’t stop the online discussion from boiling over, with some of his colleagues also commenting on the suspicious Miss, Protocol and Nurmagomedov’s entire behavior.
Looks like he’s made me lose weight!

FYI ufc The official facial weight makes you step on the scale in the back room. You do not need to step on the official facial scale unless you are overweight and especially if you are not the first on the scale.

While we wait to see if anyone from Gethsemane’s team raises their concerns about this, we’ll leave it up to the reader to determine if something went awry during Nurmagomedov’s weightlifting.

The stressful turn on Nurmagomedov’s scale brings to mind UFC weight controversies in the past, some of which even included a championship claim. Let’s take a look and see how some of the big names in the UFC have played the system in the past.
Probably the first example that comes to mind when controversy over weights is discussed, Daniel Kimier fooled the UFC 210 with a second-second weight cut in front of it which was really mysterious.
Participating in his second fight against Anthony Johnson, Kimi Miar initially came in heavy by 1.2 pounds for his light heavyweight championship defense. Losing weight in this situation would be disastrous for a player who would probably be unable to retain his title even with a win. He was given the opportunity to weigh again and three minutes later, he returned to the scale and made weights.
Incredible, right?
Of course, in the footage above, Cormier can clearly see the scale being examined on the towel, an old school wrestling trick that provides the contestant with enough weight to just pass the test. I would estimate that about 1.2 pounds have moved, give or take
Later, Cormier was told:
“He was crazy, I was overweight and I was‘ I’m OK, I’m going to do this. It was harder than usual, but we felt like we had done it, the weight of the scale was different. “
He added that he just held on to the towel so as not to expose it and refused to make any attempt to manipulate the scale. The following night, Cormier recorded his second consecutive defense of the UFC Light Heavyweight title, beating Johnson by a second-round submission.
When we’re talking towel tricks, a respectful mention of Hakim Dawood who is a UFC player. At 240 Yoshinori appeared using the same step to make weights for the featherweight with Hori.
These are levels for one.
UFC welterweight champion George Saint-Pierre and Littal Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz had already made a poetic pairing of oil and water before arriving in Montreal for UFC 158. Braz, sun-baked, with Diaz’s Stockton street style.
The two had previously been matched at UFC 137, but Carlos Condit replaced Diaz when Dana White decided to punish Puriel Diaz for neglecting his media responsibilities (Saint-Pierre would later face Condit at UFC 154). Still, the expected duel did not stop and they finally met in March 2011. St.-Pierre scored the scorecard for the eighth straight time to successfully defend his UFC title.
His flesh did not end there. Shortly afterwards, when the controversy erupted, it was suggested that Saint-Pierre was actually a few ounces above the 170-pound championship limit. According to the Quebec Commission, the rule is that they ignore decimals when calculating weights.
Here’s how then-UFC vice-president Michael Mershey explained the situation to Diaz’s team:
“Here, they will give you and George extra time. Just in no case does it make sense. But the good news is, they don’t count tithes. If you are 170.2 it is 170. If it is 170.9. That’s 170. ”
That clarity didn’t sit well with Diaz, who told Chel Sonnen in a 2015 interview that he believed St.-Pierre was actually three pounds heavier and that St.-Pierre was on steroids for his fight.
Years later, St.-Pierre will Shockingly Admit all of the above as well as poisoning Diaz and receiving alien gamma ray therapy to increase his power for the championship clash.
It’s no secret that Calvin Gastelum has struggled in the past to create a welterweight limit, but after returning to the middleweight pound in 2016, it seemed that Final Fighter 17 The champion made his points straight on the scale.
However, those old problems raised their ugly heads again in the weighted size for UFC 244. With a crucial co-main event fight against Darren Till ahead of him, Gastelum couldn’t take any chances and he ordered a towel before the weight. His faithful coach Rafael Cordero was there to provide his moral support and see, Gastelum not only made weight, he came to the level of 184, two pounds under the non-title middleweight limit.
Upon closer inspection, it seems that Cordero may be more for them than just moral support. Gastelum and Cordero were later charged with weight loss fraud, with observers pointing out that Gastelum was seen resting his coach sideways on an elbow.
The New York State Athletic Commission found no evidence of malpractice and Cordero was unreliable in the misdemeanor charges.
“People are traveling,” Cordero said. “I went there to check his weight. How do I lift it two pounds from my chest? They are insane. They are tripping. The fight is a play to sell. There is no way. There is no way.
“There were two athletic commission officials, I was in front of the whole world… it’s impossible. Trying to break the law doesn’t even cross my mind. Baby weight, under two pounds. He did his job. He was the last, he was sweating, running like crazy, working hard and working out. Everyone has a mouth and can say whatever they want. ”
On Fight Night, Tille won a close split decision on Gastelum, so things could work as long as it was made as official as possible by boats.
