A small landslide has occurred on the R618 and motorists have been warned to use caution on the route.
The landslide occurred between Cannons Cross and the Inniscarra bar in Ballincollig and is blocking a lane.
At this initial stage, the full scope of the incident is not yet known, as the Gardaí is on the way to assess the situation, but drivers are being asked to exercise caution in the area.
Trees are believed to have been cut down in the area in recent weeks, which may have contributed to the situation.
The Cork County Council has been alerted to the problem.
Meanwhile, Cork City fire crews from Ballincollig and Anglesea Street rescued one person from flooding near Cloghroe.
It is understood that the person was trapped in his car due to rising waters on the road.
Three fire brigade units attended the scene, two from Anglesea Street and one from Ballincollig.
There were no injuries as a result of the incident.
AA Roadwatch has urged motorists to be very careful:
“There are reports of flooding in the Cloghroe area, including the main Carrigrohane / Cloghroe Rd (R579) in Muskerry.” Be very careful in the area and never drive through standing water unless you are sure it is not too deep. “
