The Garda launches an investigation after a young man dies in a night raid in Co Kildare

A man in his 20s died after a night assault in Co Kildare.

Robertstown officers were called into a law enforcement incident in the Allenwood South area around midnight Sunday, where they found a silver Audi that was reported to have collided with a Red Renault Traffic van.

After arriving at the scene, no complaint was made to Gardai and the two vehicles have been detained for forensic examinations.

Later, at 3.49 am, the Gardai were called to an assault on Allenwood South, where they found an unconscious man on the road.

The emergency services administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation and took him by ambulance to the Naas General Hospital.

However, the man in his 20s was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Gardai is now asking members of the public to submit any information related to the incidents.

A spokesperson said: “Gardaí is making the following information appeals:

“Information on the movement of the Audi A4 Silver, registration number 09CN6292 on the night of Saturday, January 2, 2021 until 12:45 am on Sunday, January 3, 2021

“Information on the incident between the Audi A4 Silver and the Red Renault Traffic van in the Allenwood area

“Information regarding any incident that occurred in the Allenwood South area between 12 a.m. and 4:30 a.m., including the fatal assault on the man in Allenwood South

“Anyone with information on these incidents is requested to contact the investigating Gardaí at Naas Garda station 045 884300, the confidential Garda phone number 1800 666 111 or at any Garda station.

“There is no Garda spokesperson available at this time. Further details will be provided when appropriate.”
